I had the same problem the other night. Had to settle for this pic. This one was 13". Got a couple 12s and an 11 too. I was looking down the hole watching my jig when this guy came out of nowhere and smashed it.

What is the best sized crappie to eat? My way of thinking is a smaller crappie is the same as a larger bluegill so why cant you take a smaller crappie. 8 or 9 inches is what I'm talking about

Nope its 8 fow and they are coming up tyo 6 foot and then they smack it

Theres a bit of glare we tried 12 13 fow and never saw a fish then moved shallower and they were stacked up

I tried shallower yeasterday and there was nothing to speak of.

Here's ours from this morning. Carter had the big one of the day at just over 12".

We kept these ones today.

Fished Wisconsin for the first time this ice fishing season, I caught my biggest Bluegill of the year so far on Friday. It measured 9 3/4" (only one fishing the lake so sorry for the bad pictures, my hands always seem to dwarf the fish too being 6'3")

And Saturday I caught some decent Crappies in a contest, I was in 1st and 2nd place literally all day until a half hour before the contest was up, and I wound up taking 3rd and 4th. But to my luck, they only payed out biggest crappie and 2nd biggest crappie. Oh well, it was fun. It was a small contest of only about 60 people.

Crappie went 11 1/2" no monster by any means but the lake was under 70 acres.
