DNR fools mother nature!

When the DNR announced a possible change in the fishing opener date, little did it know mother nature was listening.

The proposed change would have moved the opener 1 week ahead so not to conflict with Mothers Day. Everyone knows that the weekend weather before opening weekend is always beautiful.

Well, mother nature thought this coming weekend was opener and didn't have time to change the weather pattern. 20s for lows and 40s for highs, windy, rainy.

ITS NOT NICE TO FOOL MOTHER NATURE!!!!!

OMG WE ARE DOOMED.....

When she realizes we tricked her, it's gonna be a summer full of horizontal rain, hail, snow (it is MN ya never know), tornadoes, etc. And most importantly the terrible weather will always happen on weekends! ;\)

I seem to remember mother nature throwing a couple of really good punches on many of the traditional "Mother's Day" openers. It does always seem like the weather is better on the following Monday. If the opener were a week earlier I'd find somewhere to catch a walleye.

Yeah, why is it that it's always nice on Mondays?

That is why I always fish on Monday or Tuesday nights. Skip out early from work and just back up to the boat, hook it up, and head to the launch.

You avoid the pleasure boaters and the fish are just turning on after a weekend of pressure. If you are lucky, there is a Twin's game on the radio.

Rob and I fished more Mondays and Tuesdays last year than we did weekends. Many more Monday and Tuesday nights on the water coming up this summer.

Im with you bassboy. Being self employed and living next to the St.Croix those nasty days I cant work ,I landscape, turn into beutiful days on the river. Sometimes I'll say its gonna rain for an exscuse to go fishing.

Not on Vermillion, it rained most of the day. Sunday was better.

Best part of opener on Mille is Sunday at about supper time, when all the week-enders are trailering up and heading back to reality. At that point it's time to find your evening bite, bobber up and turn up Bear Facts and Fish Tales .
