TonkaBass
have you guys ever had any issues storing soft plastics in them.
cjac
I use them for all my plactic bass trailers/worms as well as my soft-bodied muskie baits like Bulldawgs. No issues at all. I do make sure to air them out though, helps a lot. Bass stuff: I try to keep as many in the original package as possible, cleaner and easier. Helps to see a bag of Zoom chunks is low in a particular, then I know what I'm running low on. Open baits I keep with the same make, different plastic formulas can cause issues, in the muskie box, Curly Sues and Bulldawgs don't agree! In general, I try to avoid keeping a plastic trailer on for the "next time", holds water, etc.
Deitz Dittrich
I keep all my boat plastics in them or similar items.. I have bulk stuff in storage units in my garage and then just replenish when my supplies in my 3700's is low.new plastics and new boxes do not have the same problem in the old days where plasics melted the tackle boxes. BassProAddict
You guys think taking worms/softplastics outside their original bags causes them to lose moisture, scent and other original properties? The Strike King Super Finnese, for one, melts rather easily. ALL_IN
Yeah I guess I have the sme question as BPA, I always thought that you should keep them in the original bags. I ended up buying about 6 of those file flip deals for all my different plastics.Interested to get some opinions.ALL-IN
polarsusd81
I have some baits in the original packages, and some tossed in the box. I have found that culprit worms do well in the box without a bag and the colors don't bleed too much. Gulp and Powerbait, stay in the bag until they go on the hook. Some of my trailers for spinnerbaits are in the box without a bag as well. Just takes a little experimenting to figure out which ones do better which way. Once you start to get them figured out, you can tell whether you need the bag or not just by the feel of the plastic.
BassProAddict
Goes without saying that funky scented (ok ok I actually do like the smell) stuff like Berkeley Gulps and other scented stuff should stay in the bag unless you want your garage or tackle box smellin' like it 24/7. delmuts
i also store my plastics in 3700's, but i take most of them out of the original bags( except the gulp ) and put them into snack size plastic bags. these roll up and store so much easier than the the stiff/heavy bags so many baits come in. NCLaker
I have been trying to figure out a good way to store my plastics. I would prefer to keep them in the bag, for the reason's already mentioned, and also takes the guessing out of what it is I'm using. An option I am looking at is the Plano 3730 - same size as the 3700s but taller (3.25") so you can fit your plastics bags in them easier. Hard to find them in stores, I came across it in the Cabelas HSOforum. ANYONE have any experience with this box for this purpose??
Deitz Dittrich
Gulp needs to stay in its original bag or go into alive or some other scent. All other plastics that I am aware of should be find in plano boxes. I have never had a problem with what I felt was a lure loosing scent. Then again I dont use any of the ultra sticnky stuff like chompers and such like that.I store mine in Boxes and use Shimano ones that you can change the color of the latches.. then I can tell what I am reaching for without eevn thinking about it. All my tubes in one box, all my senko types in another, all my 8" worms in another. ect...

" I use the Plano 3730 and 3731 (one has dividers, the other doesn't)and leave everything in it's original bag. Just fold the bag over and it fits perfect. It looks like a mini filing system when I open the box. My plan is to have a box for each style of baits (one for tubes, one for senko style, etc.) then put the jigs and hooks associated with that style of plastic in the same box. My hope is that this will reduce the number of boxes I open and spread around the boat at once. However, this is only theory, and has yet to be proven on a day when nothing seems to work and I start throwing everything I've got! I think I picked mine up at Gander Mountain, but I've seen them at Cabelas, Thornes, and Fleet Farm.
RK
Hiya - I have so many different types of plastics, it's sick (my defense is that smallies are as selective as trout sometimes, so it's necessary). So storing plastics is a real pain. I used to keep everything in Stowaways, but didn't like it much. The covers would warp on a hot day, and the latches would give out. I still have some types in Stowaways out of the bag (mainly stuff like jig trailers, stickbaits and tubes), some in bags in 3730 stowaways, but most of my plastics are in Shimano Broadway binders. Each 'page 'of the binder has a couple pockets which you can stuff plastics in or out of the bag. I have a couple for grubs, one for drop shot baits, one for worms, one for craws and creatures. Label the top, and you can just grab whichever one you want on the way to the front deck. They work pretty slick. Cheers,Rob Kimm
Craig Plummer
I'd like to see some of your guys collection of baits, I think it would be funny to see a picture of how much money we spend on little chunks of plastic. RK, Deitz... get the cameras ready ;-)
JP Z
(Sorry off the topic a bit)For bulk storage I am using those In-Fish Coolers from Nature Vision (I know a guy....or am the guy) The 24pk cooler can hold about 1,000 worms.I just have the packs bulked into gallon Ziplocks via style, and then in their own Coolers via technique.. Deitz Dittrich
I'm busy tonight, but will try and snap a pict of my plastics tomorrow.. but again like RK says.. its pretty sad... Aint no way you can talk me into adding up what its worth.
new_kid
I bet if you had to add it all up it would be a really nice down payment on a new boat but i think we all have our fair share of soft plastics
Superduty
I keep my "mother lode" in 3731's in the original bags. I label each 3731 with bait type. To reduce weight in the boat I put what I need for the trip/tournament/etc in Falcon or Bass Pros Shops bags that are designed to hold plastics in the original bags. I have seen photos of some pros that keep all their plastics on pegboard on the wall. Kind of like a personal tackle shop.
NCLaker
I like that Pegboard idea, but then it would be more obvious to you know who, how much stuff I have.Like RK said "if the BOSS" ever saw it, I'd probably be dead."

LMAOI need to reorganize! Bahaha... I didn't even get that far. Started to lay everything out, and had to stop. Too frightening. The REALLY sad part was, as I was dragging out boxes, I'd think "Oohh. I need some more of those..."Sad, sad deal...
Deitz Dittrich
LOL @ RK... Dude.. I'm so with you.. alright, I am going to lay myself on the line. its sick.. and keep in mind, I have brand new boxes to put some of this in, and I need to reorganize in a bad way... Here is a look at my 4' straight tail worms in their box. And here is part of the stack.. I thought this was most of my plastic boxes, but then I found 5 more.. oops... Ok, then when my stash gets low in the boat, I restock from my cabinets.. Notice the cardboard boxes or restock that needs to go into the cabinets... I opened one of the drawers, each drawer is a type of plastic.
