rain suit

I just have the plain old one I bought at Wal-Mart. It's about 3 years old now and it hasn't let me down yet.

I got my Arctic Armor this winter. I'm very anxious to use it this spring in the boat. No more dressing in layers and putting the rain suit on over layers. Just toss on the Arctic Armor and stay warm and DRY!!!

I purchased the Stearns "Walleye Hunter" rainsuit from FleetFarm two years ago. Works great. Stayed warm and dry through some heavy rains on Vermillion last opener. Best thing -it's relatively inexpensive. It was on sale two weeks ago - $59.95 for the jacket and $49.95 for the bibs.

Any feedback/opinions on the "free"/$69 Columbia rain jacket you get with their promotion for purchasing a fenwick rod $119 and up???

Seemed like a great excuse to buy another rod.

I was in a tourney last year where it rained all day. The people with $150 rain suits were as wet as those with $30 suits.

I used to have Frog Toggs (ripped them out). They are good for a shower here or there, but don't expect to stay dry in heavier rains or longer storms. I'll be buying a new suit, but I am still doing some research.

My criteria ranking is:

1. quality (keeps you dry and won't rip out)

2. breathable (for summer fishing months)

3. lastly... price

guidewear is the way ,15 years of heavy use for my first set and that breaks down to about 25.00 per year . i just bought my second set so my boy can still wear mine. also i run a 75hp tiller so i wear the suit darn nearall the time rain or shine if there is any breeze at all. yea it is expensive but worth it in the long run.

I have a Gamehide Typhoon rain coat. What a dream. Dry as can be, I used it during an entire week of rain in Canada last year and wouldn't trade it for anything right now. I have Cabelas guide pants, non insulated, and I use them all year as well. Love em!

I have Gander's version of the GoreTex suit. I think it's the same as Bass Pro's. It has the same logo with the fish on it and extra patches/pocket locations and colors. It has worked well for me. Stayed dry and warm in the fall when raining and windy. The parka was 189 and the bibs were 179. make sure you combine with a pair of boots that are also water tight. You don't want all the rain coming off your body onto soaked wet boats.

I will be using my Arctic Armor as Rain Gear in the spring and fall and my goretex when its hot out.

I looked it up on the Arctic Armor web page and it says Arctic Armor is waterproof. I was out in rain a few weeks back and the Arctic Armor kept me dry. I have never got wet even when kneeling or sitting in slush and water.

It will be interesting to see if its waterproof enough to last a whole spring day of rain. From what I have seen from it so far I think it will do fine.

The Goretex is the only way to go when its warm out.

Frog Togs? Only if you are using it to get back to the ramp. Im not impressed by them at all.

All I have to say Rain gear is worth the money and is something you don't want to cheap out on. I like buying rain gear that has a warrenty. My next set of rain gear is going to be the Cabela's gore-tex because they will replace it if it ever starts leaking.
