Croxton Pond bags?

I love my Croxton Pond Bag! Don't leave home without it I can fit four rods in it and it pacts nicely inside a 5gal. bucket for added protection especially when someone doesn't have a trap cover and your getting pulled by an ATV. Other than my MarCum and cooler it's the only thing that doesn't fill up with snow. One of my better investments.

I have lets think...3..maybe 4 years on my Croxton Pond Ice Tote now? Anyhow, It is still looks like new. I even use it in the summer for packing in gear. It's seen a fair share of use and abuse.

Out of all my various ice gear I think this one purchase was definitely among my smartest. If you invest in quality gear protecting it with a quality case is like money in the bank.

I know I have lost and broken far less gear since I got the tote. It really is amazing what all they can hold.

It changed the way I gear up.

I can put four rods/reels nicely in the center compartment and fill the side compartments with two tip-ups and four small tackle boxes that hold all my ice lures.

That leaves the rest of my misc gear like batteries and small tools and such to go in two small plastic Tupperware type containers, each smaller than a loaf of bread.

I used to have five plastic containers sliding around all over the place in my Trap II, but no more, thanks to a Christmas present last year from Mrs. Catfish. Ahhhhh, life is good. grin.gif

Thanks folke2000! I would hope they would have them for the St. Paul Expo on Dec 5-7. They are similar to a hard gun case with the egg carton foam inside. With three kids stomping around my shack, it might pay for itself the first trip!

I like the bag with 4 seperate compartments for rods and a center pocket for tip ups and my rock n reel and jig boxes. I took some plastic tubes from my golf bag and glued them into the individual compartments for some added protection for the rods and it works great

I have not seen the new Otter case but I have seen the new Frabill Pack-A-Pole Rod Cases.

If your looking for a bulletproof hard care this is pretty nifty rig. The Pack-A-Pole Rod Cases are adjustable in length, padded to protect reels and rods, and have built in lure storage compartments.

They Holds up to four rods with the reels attached. They easily adjust from
60" to 89.5" in length, so you get multi-season use from them. They have 4 security locks so you can keep them honest crooks out too. Like them sneaky pole borrowing friends and kids. wink.gif

A very durable system and would be a good bet for strapping on a ATV, bouncing around in a truck box, or for fly in trips that need some extra protection.

I have a few custom built rods for ice fishing that do not fit the Croxton pond tote, so I ordered one of these to accommodate them safely.

If I am think of the same thing that you mentioned the Lakewood Ice Caddie is nothing like a croxton pond bag. I believe what you are talking about is something that you can snap your rods in vertically and then set it in a 5-7 gallon pail. The croxton is a gear bag that allows you to put pretty much anything that you can think of it it. In mine I usually carry 6 rods and reels, 1 ice dipper, cribbage board, about 5 tackle boxes and that still leaves room for addional smaller items. It has backpack straps so that you can sling it on your back. This is nice if you ride a wheeler or a sled where you are going put it on your back and away you go. I have still had some rods break and tangle but not as often as before plus it is more compact that carring a 5 gallon pail with.

Ok I did a search now I see what you guys are talking about. Yes the are a little different than the Croxtons. With out seeing them I don't know what they are like. All I know is that after I got mine last year I showed it to my dad and he wanted one immediatly so he I got one for him too it made getting a christmas present pretty easy for me. Then one of my other friends saw it so he has one on the way for this season. They are slick and everyone that has one like it..
