icehousebob
Years ago, there was a monster buck in South Dakota that lived near the Blue Cloud Abbey. A couple times a year, guys would almost hit him on the highway at night. Some hunters would spend their whole season trying to nail him. No one ever did. My older brother had the Blue Cloud buck standing broadside at 100 yards and all the time in the world to aim. Right behind him was the abbey and he couldn't pull the trigger. The buck had to have died of old age because if anyone had gotten him during season or even hit him with a car, it would have made the local papers. EYES101
I had one that I had called "The Big Stink". He would walk by me when I was bow hunting (70-80 yards) and you could smell him. Musty, urine smell. I did finally shoot him during the rifle season. Nice thirteen point 178 B & C

ccarlson
"Old Split Toes" was the big buck I always tracked as a kid on our property. Only saw quick glimpses of him and never got a good look. Monster tracks, heavy deer.Funny story. As an adult I went back and hunted my old woods that my family had since moved away from and shot what was probably a descendent of Old Split Toes. As I was tracking the blood trail, he actually walked right across a now old fallen deer stand that I spent many hours in as a kid looking for that big buck. Blood spots right there on the old platform. Unbelievable. It would have been much easier for the old guy to go around the stand but it's as if he was thumbing his nose at me. I initially thought it was meant to be for me to get that deer when I saw that but 11 hours later, we lost the trail. He won again.ccarlson

Had a huge body with just a tiny basket rack.

Blaze
Old Elmer was the fabled monster in the swamp that we chased every year. I got one glimpse of him moving about 100mph during a drive one year. He was low, pullin' full strides, flat out haulin' the mail - none of this loping across the field dump with him. His rack was wide, but gray, thin, and scraggly. We never did get him, so Old Elmer still lives in the swamp today in some shape or form.
