Almost hit a biker this morning

Recommended Posts

He was riding on the right side of the road as I went by. About a mile away was a stop sign (4 way) in a very small town. There was a small line of cars at the stop sign.

I took my turn stopping, and signaled a right turn and turned. The biker had caught up to me by then and "whoosh" he went by and I almost hit him. I would have if I wouldn't have hit the brakes.

What does he do, he flips me off.

I bike and hate when bikers do this. It gives us all a bad name. He is traffic, and he has to stop at the stop sign also. If bikers want to be part of traffic, they have to act like it and obey the laws.

Thoughts?

You should go downtown Minneapolis during the day. Those bikers think the road is their road and the cars are always wrong. They cut in front you, don't abide by any traffic laws. They drive on both sides of the road. I guarentee 1 trip through downtown and you can almost hit 10 people if not carefull.

Its crazy how some bikers think that they own the road. Someday they will decide to run one of those stop signs and someone will kill them. Like is it really worth it? Why not just stop? Someday they will wish they had...but it will probably be too late.

Definately gives all of us bikers that obey the laws of the road a bad rap. I don't understand it. I'm guessing most of these bikers that are doing this have been biking for quite a while and think their hot -explative-. Even so, they more than anyone should know they have to obey traffic laws and want to represent the sport positively. Or the people with all the money in the world who buy toys and not take the time to know how to use them properly. MAKES ME MAD!

I used to work DT Mpls also and have had this happen a handful of times. If they do something wrong and then give me the finger, I simply roll down my window and say follow the laws a-hole!

They are terrible DT Mpls. Makes me want to aim for them when they do this.

It's too bad that it's people like that(breaking laws and such) give everybody else that do follow the rules a bad name. I guess that goes for just about anything. Unfortunately if one of the unlawful bikers get injured or killed who is the one that gets all of the sympathy? Not the poor driver that did not see the biker ride up from beside him in a right turn.... That poor biker...

Just too bad....

Bikers and drivers need to be courteous and aware of each other at all times. Last weekend my neighbor boy came down the alley on his bike didn't/couldn't stop and ran into the side of my truck as I was pulling out from my house, I never saw him just heard a thud. He was ok but his bike was mashed and I think it scared both of us half to death. I guess we both got lucky.

Ok I just went on a rant down on the discussion forum abut the bike races on Blackdog Road in Burnsville. I nearly hit a biker during the race because he a sudden u-turn out in front of me and another driver coming from the other direction. Then this same race nearly cause me to have a head on collision.
