Kyle Sandberg
Has anyone ever tried using small bullheads for walleyes. I have a small pond loaded with them and was wondering if they are good for anything other than channel cats. Sure would be nice if they were
0 Ralph Wiggum
I can't tell you how many big walleyes I heard of last year that were caught on 7" bullheads while flathead fishing.
0 sparcebag
Yes I have caught lots of eyes with them.Best time is after bullies spawn and there 1-1&1/2 long in pods all along shore.I fish em at night in shallows.Slip bobber
0 tunrevir
Look at some of the posts last year on the catfish forum, good bait for bigger eyes. Similar to the willowcats that are used on the Mississippi down by Redwing and Pepin.Tunrevir~
0 delcecchi
Are bullheads legal for bait (in Minnesota)? Perch and bluegill aren't, I think.
0 Ralph Wiggum
As the regs read right now:Quote:Minnows– Members of the minnow family, except carp and goldfish; bullheads, ciscoes, lake whitefish, goldeyes, and mooneyes (not over seven inches long); suckers (not over 12 inches long); mud minnows, leeches, tadpole madtoms and stonecats. (Note: border water regulations may vary.)Using whole or parts of game fish is illegal.
0 hanson
Do walleyes like bullheads???? Hmmmm.... I know a fellow fisherman who put nearly 30 eyes over 24" in his boat early last summer on bullheads 4-5" long. Most fish were 27"-28" or so. Here's a 28" I got with him last year on a live bully. 0 Shack
Going to give them a running try this weekend on Saturday. Went down tonight and caught 14 in about 45 minutes. They range from around 2-5". The smller ones I am hoping for walley's (fishing pool 2). The larger ones, I am hoping for large cat's. The cheapest large living bait I have ever fished with. I will post image of my batch from tonight. My wife thinks they are cute. I told her to try petting them and see what happen's. She did'nt.
