What will you throw first?

morning: Probably a Topraider or a Rumbler (gotta find out what the hype is all about)

midday: Hellhound, Double D, Manta...who knows...

evening/night: Double X or something topwater

I'm sure this list will change well before opener, but I know for a fact that my dad will be throwing an Eagle Tail all day.

I will be out at sun up, haven't decided what lake yet...

The first thing that I will throw will be my white chatter bait. Usaully, I would start with a smaller bucktail but this year I want to throw more chatter baits.

I am sure that I will be switching to a jerkbait sometime mid morning, last year we put 3 in the boat opening weekend on the suick with the red head and white body. I still can't figure out why but thats what they wanted. I am sure that my buddy will get the lucky one again wink.gif If it's overcast, I will switch to something darker.

I am sure that I will be throwing either a XX or a cowgirl by the end of the night.

The only topwater that I am going to throw will be my wolly pog because I am diing to see how it swims, after a few casts, it is going back into its protective case then on to the rear view mirror until July when I unleash the furry. grin.gif

Can't wait,

John

probably throw myself in the water first to wake up from the dream that I may actually catch one -- I hope it's a warm spring.

In all seriousness I'll probably put on one of the 7.5" molly baits I just picked up, a nice little crank bait that also acts as glide bait. Then I suppose an inline spinner, followed by every other bait in my box.

She has been their before, it likes the soft water in that neck of the woods.

As far as what I will throw first...well first my cares, worries and troubles will go in the trash then I will cast out my old jointed Rap. I caught my first big fish on it so its all a luck thing.

I've been thinking about this post......a lot. Boy, I don't know.

Depends so much on water temp and weather. Looking at the forecast and the generally warm winter, it could be any early ice out, at least the southern 1/2 of the state. Couple that with the fact that there was minimal snow cover, allowing light penetration (almost to the end of February down here prior to the two big dumps of snow), weed growth could be substantial. Let's not forget low water levels from the fall and the general premise of warming water temps across the globe. Fish could be hot or passive, it all depends. Please tell me if I'm out in left field......

Based on those considerations, I could be slow rolling a spinnerbait, burning smaller bucks, top water, rippin' weeds, twitching a glider over a weed bed.....who knows. I do know I'll fish 'eyes come opener and the week prior to ski opener I'll fish for bass to see where they are at in the "timing" of their spawn and their general activity levels, assuming nature will follow suit and the muskies will in turn act accordingly.

Thoughts please???......or am I overthinking it and should just snap on a classic Suick or work a Weagle and have at it? Regardless, I'll be out lookin' for fish #1 of 2007.
