Rocket: Get a hold of some LED truck backup lamps. Great light and they draw very few amps. I had on running for 4 days on a VEX battery and it was still full bright. I turned it off because I felt that was long enough for any trip before re-charging... Many of the larger truck stops have them for replacement on the "Big Rigs". Several of the guys on this site have used them too.... Kaz grin.gif

Rocket-

I recently ordered some water proof led lights from hong kong, the are in a flexible rope light type led i should be recieving them shortly. they are 48 leds in a 18 in section kind of like the lb1 and lb2 that ppl were ordering from superbright leds. Except there are more bulbs in a shorter section, and flexible versus in a fixed housing. Once i have set them up and installed them i will post further information on if they are dump or they are wonderfull.

Also i have seen the lights that captkev was usiing for his house on some HSOforum, i have heard good things about them and i think they run about 19 bucks for 1 or 35 for 2.

Well, i went and bought the LED Light strip that clam has but i was disapointed with the small amount of light it gives off. But i purchased a 24 LED light of the HSOforum that they had the article about on here awhile back, it works great and gives of a ton of light great buy for $10 smile.gif

I just bought a few lights from spectrumled.(you-know-what). (3) overhead 24-led fixtures; 10.00 each, and some 2-pack 5-led red or white strips for hole lights; 5.00 a pair. The overheads work great, wide dispersion from a small fixture. Paypal and no problems shipping; 3 days to my door step.

Here is a picture of a light we built using 1157 LED bulbs. We have since upgraded to the 30 LED bulbs and they work great. It's SUPER bright with the 30 bulb units. We use two 30's and 2 15led bulbs in a fishtrap Voyager and it's more light than we need. We use just the 15's or sometimes the 30's in Fishtrap Pros. We can clip the lights on any pole anywhere in a fishtrap house. grin.gif

I picked up a package of 6 clips from Thorne Brothers. I think you could order them right from Clam as well but Thorne does a pretty good job of having replacement parts available for sale. I don't recall the exact price but I'd say less than $10.

McGurk and WildBill:

Was that the dome light at the top of their "fixtures" page? (Utility Light Item #24 LED $9.99) Any problems with that one? I think I read that other members had received defective stuff from that company. Was it pretty easy wiring it the way it came, or did it need a lot of other materials?

hey schweady,

Yah thats the light and it seems to work fine, i just zip tied it to the top pole of the portable and ran the wiring down to the battery a little bit of extra wired was needed to reach the battery but thats about it. It reallt puts off good light compared to other lights i have tried.

kudos to who ever thought of this, I think this might be answer to lighting a portable. I like your clip idea Gus. Has anyone tried the 24led matrix 1 style? and with a 1157 style you could have high and low beam? 2 lights adequete for otter cabin? I'll probaly order some this week.

It's the Jumbo aquarium light that you can get in different colors. Works great, way different color spectrum than the incandescent lights (yellowish) before. No shipping problems, screws and 6 ft attached leads of wire included and ready to go.

I kind of went a complete other direction. I bought one of those Power Pacs that has a DC outlet. It is basically a rechargeable 12volt battery pac that you see around. I got this one at Northern on a closeout - cost $18. Then I went to Menards and bought a DC 20 Watt trouble light in their lighting Department. The light has a 20' cord and packs up in a small bundle that I store in a small box. The light has a hook on the end that hangs easily from my portable icehouse frame. The light was on sale for $8. This setup works great and I also use it in my boat for additional night lighting.

I also have a plug in 75watt power inverter that will plug into the battery pac DC outlet and converts the DC power to AC. I can then run a variety of AC equipment if I want. Works great for a small TV or other small watt appliances.

I tested the light in the battery pack over the weekend and it ran all night and was still going.

Pretty simple approach to lighting that did not require any construction plus the DC to AC inverter gives you additional options.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
    • Chef boyardee pizza from the box!
