It's been discussed in this form before and all suggestions are good but in my instance my feet were always cold and I went with the army bunny boots and have never regreted it. You can pick up a pair on hsolist for around $50-$60.

Jigginjerk,

I'm with you, got a pair of the "bunny boots" and love them. They look a little funky, but they are the warmest boots I've ever worn. Best part was my mom found them at Catholic Charities shop for $10. Looked like they were worn once. Perfect size too. One of my lucky fortunes.

Are Bunny boots the white rubber ones with the air valve on the side? If so, I will second the Bunny boots. I have some that my old man got in the military. They are the warmest boots I have experienced. I saw a National Geograghic episode in Antartica once and guess what they were wearing. I have seen them for sale at GI. Joe, about $80.

Micky Mouse boots, which you can get at any military surplus store, are incrediably warm. Far warmer than my Lacross Ice Kings. The only problem with them is the lack of a good tread.

There is also a guy at the Ice Fishing show that sells them and usually has pretty good deals during the show.

Cabela's Predator Extreme pac boot!!

This is the warmest most durable boot I have ever owned!

My feet were always cold until I bought these boots two years ago. Now I never get cold feet and I spend a lot of hours on the ice and in a deer stand every winter.

Just remember that you should buy a boot that is at least 1/2 size to 1 size bigger then you would normaly wear to leave room for heavy socks and a little air flow.

Just did an hsolist search of "bunny boots" Many pair for sale and at low low prices. You cannot afford not to buy these with expensive store brand boots costing over a hundred dollars. Now I know what to get my kids for Christmas, I always thought they were too expensive, Not on hsolist. These are the best boots I've ever owned.

I have had Sorrel Red Balls, LaCrosse Ice Kings, Bunny boots, and Muckluks. I didnt like the Ice kings, too bulky/heavy but very warm. Bunny boots same thing, but great for snowmobiling. The LaCrosse were too big to fit in the foot holds even. But I wear my Steger Mucklucks everywhere. Warmer and much lighter than anything else Ive ever had. There are a few tips/secrets to keep them working great and keeping your feet warm and the people at Steger's in Ely are the ones you'd have to talk to. Unless I am snowmobiling all day I only wear my Mucklucks. Oh and there great if you ever loose your dogs and have to run a mile ot two to get them back! wink.gifJust my 2 cents. grin.gif

Mickey boots - Mil surplus, black rubber, ~$60, rated to -40

Lacrosse Ice Kings - consumer (the man's mall), ~$100 on sale, leather/canvas/rubber pac boot, rated to -80

I have the black BATA mickey mouse boots - they are easily warm enough, don't feel the need to go get the white ones. I've fished in -30 with them and had zero problems. And I have serious trouble with cold feet. They are truly incredible. The important thing is to make SURE you buy the BATA branded military surplus boots. There are other makes, and they are not as good. This year, I picked up a pair of 1200 gram thinsulate rubber boots from Cabelas on sale for about 70 bucks. I can't wait to try these for early and late ice conditions - in the slush, they will be unbeatable, and I think they will be very warm, and of course, waterproof. The most important thing with any boot system is a good liner sock followed by a good pair of wool or wood blend socks. NO COTTON - cotton holds moisture and robs heat!!

The Military mickey boots hands down. I have wimpy feet too, i got them for xmas and that was the warmest pair of boots I have ever owned. (thanks Santa) I just wear a plain pair of socks with no probs. I fell through a spear hole and got soaked and still stayed warm! be sure the vavles are shut tight though, otherwise moisture builds up in there! you can find them under 50bux

    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
