Garza's first start

Even if he is doing well I doubt he'll go past 5.

My prediction is 5 innings, 2 runs, 4-5 strikeouts and then the bullpen takes over.

I don't think they want to throw the kid out for 7+ innings right away. 6 is the absolute most unless he is throwing a no hitter.

Top of the 2nd 5-0 TOR they sure do like his fastball. Didn't someone say here that any ML batter can hit a fastball. O wait that was me... Gee I hope something good happens here ... 7 hits so far I can't write anymore..

I havent been this excited for a game all year!

With all of those big series with Detroit and Chicago. smirk.gif

Pitched a lot like Scott Baker. Good stuff but can't live up in the zone. I can only imagine how nervous he was. Will see I'm sure he'll get at least 2 maybe 3 more starts. Can't get much worse... ooo.gif

Chances of Making the playoffs. I believe are about over with. We don't have a good rotation. Silva is off and on. Baker's probably going to get beat up today to. I love the Twins, but I'm afraid it's going to take a miracle to make the playoffs.

I just read a stat today on trib.com and of the 60 + pitches he threw last night, 45-49 of them were fastballs ooo.gif When anybody at the plate is sitting on a fastball, they will pounce all over it.

Hopefully Anderson will be able to help him with his slider and curveball.

I'm not expecting big things from him this year. I had a hunch he wasn't going to be effective because they did say he had great control of his fastball, but all his other pitchs were pretty questionable. They definately needed some work more or less.

It's pretty clear that Gardy didn't learn anything from TK. Despite who's calling the shots, TK would have had Garza pitch some relief to get a taste, build some confidence and see if he had the junk it took to be a starter.

Reusse had a nice piece today on Ron Davis. Back in those days, it was pretty easy to get seats where you could see his stuff. He pitched for today's KC back them.

In Gardy defense, They don't need relief pitchers they need starters. You don't mess with the #1 bull pen giving somebody innings to practice. I think he was not ready to be called up, but was and now that he is he will have to learn from his outing. Kid's got stuff, just has to learn how to pitch. Last I look the manager is Gardy, TK is retired.

traded WHO for a pitcher???? I can't remember the last time the Twins traded for a pitcher at the deadline other than Rick Reed---glad he's long gone.

THE twins did it right by not making a move. They are young- keep them together-- and this year is a long way from over-- Silva - Radke- Santanna-- still can win alot of games, plus with days off-- they only need one start from a 4th guy.
