JiggingSpoon
Well to be honest, a 26 1/2 inch walleye on waconia at 2:30 AM was the first fish of the year. That makes for a good start to a great year.JS

Random guy
I don't even want to admit it but it was a bass . Big one! About 4 1/2" long. I had to wash my hands, wash my jig, wash where it touched the side of the boat and I have been attending therapy trying to get over the whole deal. Bass in a musky boat, that’s like vandalizing a church.
Ihateriversnags
Ya know Jon, I've heard that those who are "bass-o-phobic" secretly have a special place in their heart for those wonderful creatures. Wondering if perhaps this may be you? Perhaps washing everything and saying a prayer may be your way of keeping the "bass bug" away from you in the hopes that nobody will discover your dark secret!! Now if I could just get that darn pike smell off of my hands!!

What an awesome night; alot of hungry boys in the shallows
dovix
23" northern on my new 9.5 foot SlabSeeker ultralight, 4lb solar mint line with no leader, plastic micro-minnow on a 1/32oz jig head. I just LOVE ultralights, that snake nearly bent my 9.5 in half, but somehow managed to not bite off the 4lb line.

Northlander
My 1st fish of the year was a 24" walleye caight while perch fishing. On Sat of opener my 1st fish ( wich took many hours in the mud of the St.Louis River this year) was a 17" eye. Just now is the river finally getting back to where it should be after the HUGE rain we got right before opener. Worst opener on the river in at least 20 years.
