Down to Earth
Believe it or not the guy went 4-0 with a 2.14 ERA this Spring. The guy actually pitched pretty decent. What are the odds he can keep it somewhat once the regular season starts? If he improves from last year he could turn into a solid #4 guy in the rotation. Jarrod32
He actually had a pretty decent second half last year, too...he may be a serviceable fourth starter. If not, I hope they move Liriano into the rotation sooner rather than later...
FI Guide
I would love to say that Loshe is goning to have a good year but I cant. They wont score enought runs for him again and he will lose confidence again and start giving up jacks. I still like the twins pitching.
knoppers
I believe that lohse does good every spring, but never caries it over to the season. lets hope he has matured anough to do so. what a picthing staff we could have if he does good.
buzzsaw
Lohse, pitched five more strong innings, giving up two runs and two hits while walking one and striking out four. He went 5-0 with a 2.42 ERA in seven starts and gave up only one run in 14 innings in his last three starts.
friendlyfisher
Buzz, yesterday he gave up two longballs. So thats al least two runs in yesterdays five innings. At least I think thats right.
buzzsaw
I just copied and pasted from ESPN... thats about as much research as I could muster.
Down to Earth
Well after 1 start it looks like false hope.4 2/3 innings giving up 8 earned runs.
Mitty
Well I see Lohse was a flash in the pan in pre-season looks like another below average season for him,now we will really be in trouble with him and the beachballer (radke)pitching the same way as last year. rundrave
yup same as last year:Radke(1-0) winning again.....Lohse(will be 0-1) losing some more
nofishfisherman
I don't know, I won't seal him to his current fate just yet. He could still get worse before he's done.
Mitty
You guys tend to forget what happened last year you cant get to far behind at the beginning at that is what is going to happen if Gardy doesnt straighten some things out right now I mean with the White Sox and Indians its going to be tough to stay above water. nofishfisherman
I also think that you need to take a step back and realize that there are still only 4 games into the season. Lets not sit here with the finger on the big red panic button just yet. Why even pay attention to the team if you are already condeming them to a bad year after only 4 games? What does Gardy have to straighten out? What has gone so wrong so far this season that you are ready to start making changes already?Santana has a bad start we should probably trade him before his next start so he doesn't pull us down. Radke gave up a few early runs before winning his game so we should probably cut ties with him to since he's a liability. The team is only averaging 6 runs a games so we should cut some dead weight and bring in some better bats, and the last dome dog I ate gave me a stomach ache so we better call the health department. OH, NO THE WHOLE TEAM IS IN SHAMBLES...HAS ANYONE SEEN THE BUTTON? WHERE IS THE PANIC BUTTON? PLEASE SOMEONE HIT THE PANIC BUTTON!!!
knoppers
the twins strong points (pitching) did not do good this week, but a good sign is our hitting looks much better. our pitching will be tops again, so don't worry too much, they will survive. Quickstrike
well said knoppers, out pitching still looked better then the white sox pitching over the first week!
buzzsaw
I started laughing when the Twins went up 4-2 tonight vs the Angels, I told my wife "Lohse will give it right back" and HE DID!! She asked how I knew that would happen? and I said "he's Kyle Lohse". He then continued to implode and waste a night at the park for all the people who paid to see a major league pitcher. the guys a waste of hope and there is an arbitrator somewhere who needs to be hung. Down to Earth
Good call Buzzsaw, though you should have waited another inning to post. Not only did he give it right back, he gave a little extra. 8 runs in 3.1 innings boosting his ERA up over 11.
bgreen82
our powerful offense almost just got it all back again. i like our lineup. castillo is a beast at hitting singles
nofishfisherman
The offense is suprising me a little. I was skeptical during the offseason about the moves they made. I liked Castillo when they signed him .300 career average and 3 gold gloves is about all you can want in a 2nd baseman. But thats really the only move I thought was good. But everyone is hitting better so far this year. Also we are making productive outs where they are getting the runner over to second or third. I'm glad I have been wrong so far. Its perfect Twins baseball if the pitching comes around. Lohse will be out and Liriano will be in within 2 more trips through the rotation if this continues. buzzsaw
Oh my gosh! I turned the TV off when we were down 8-4 to concentrate on hanging out and playing with my son and I wake up and see we won 12-10!! I love a good pitchers battle.
Stratosman
Our whole starting staff has been horrible, a team starter ERA of over 7? At least we are scoring runs, I have to believe the pitching will come around in time. I agree with the sentiment that Lohse is what he is, not good. 8-Ball
Lohse stinks-as usual. Why did we make such an effort to sign him (again). I just don't get it. Throw his rear in the bullpen and put some heat on him to improve, or else. Every time the team gives him a lead to work with, he immediately gives it right back! New year, same Lohse, as '04,'05, etc... It is disgusting, every time I see him on the mound my stomach turns.
Caesarfishinguytoo
I was at that game last night and what an exciting offensive game!!! Too bad the Twins couldn't get me a HR in the 5th inning, I would've won a $300 gift certificate to best buy, instead I ended up with a dvd and a cd! Brought the boy and once again, we scored a baseball from a player. This time it was Punto throwing one up to him. We score some tickets from our broker occasionally and they are right above the runway where the twins will walk in and out of to and fro for batting. The players always gather in there and goof off! Sometimes pretty fun just to watch those guys doing different stuff.GO TWIN!!
buzzsaw
I figured you were going to tell us about all of the swear words coming from Lohse's mouth after giving up all of those runs.
