Quickstrike
Hot off the press, the wolves just traded wally and the kandi man to the celtics for ricky davis, mark blount, and two lesser known players. I believe this is an upgrade at center but could be interesting see compare sczerbiak and davis. we are losing out best shooter but gaining a explosive slashing type guard that can actually play defense. I am not totally convinced of this trade mainly because if feels somewhat anti-climatic after all the talk of us getting artest, francis, or K mart, but it is always interesting no-matter who gets dealt. I have always been a big fan of wally and wish him the best in boston.

Scott M
Trade the second best player on the wolves for a headcase, a very raw point guard, and a stiff center who is overpaid (5-8 million each year) until 2010? And give up a first round draft pick? THIS DOESN'T WORK! WE'VE DONE THIS BEFORE! I understand we may want to open cap space, but who are we making a run at? We are going to land some older player (think Spree or Sam) who won't take us any further. And in the meantime there goes another 1st round draft pick. Does McHale think those things grow on trees? We haven't had a decent first round draft pick since Wally 7 years ago, AND WE JUST GOT RID OF HIM! I realize that the Wolves are trading because they see a playoff spot dissappearing and are shaking things up for a run now or next year in free agency, but don't make a move for the sake of making a move! Yeah, it's great that we don't have to watch Kandi pretend like he cares, but he was 4 months away from being off the books!Fire McHale-He's proven he is a poor judge of talent, a poor decision maker, and an even worse day to day general manager. He has a unique player, a once in a lifetime player in Garnett and its his responsibility to take this gift and parlay it into championship(s). But he's screwing it up! It's time for him to get out of town. He's been great for Minnesota as a player but it hasn't translated into much else. ARRRRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!!! turn_in_poachers
I just saw it on Sportscenter. What a stupid trade McHale made. Wally's having an all-star year and they go ahead and swap him for Ricky Davis? Given that their numbers are pretty much the same, and Davis is a better defender. But he's just a nutjob. Cant get along with any of his previous teammates (see Cleveland). I can see the Olowokandi trade, but this came out of nowhere. Look at Flip Saunders and Chauncey Billups. Where are they now? In a better place. I bet Wally will come back and light up the Wolves for 40+. If they were dealing with Boston, why not go for Paul Pierce? That wouldve been awesome. McHale needs to get canned. mnwild
The Wolves traded the wrong person, they should of sent McHale along with them the guy is a joke. Why trade the 2nd best player on your team, just doesnt make any sense. But I will say it will be interesting to see how Davis plays with KG. First Ice-Mike
They could have done Wally and Hassell for Steve Francis. Why not make the Kandi for Blount trade and then this trade. The trade they made might not be so bad if that young PG Banks can play well enough to keep Jaric off the floor............. I still think it would be nice to get rid of Hassell's contract - he is way overpaid. Maybe trade Hassell and Jaric to the Blazers for D-Miles - The Blazers really wanted Hassell before the start of the season last year.FI
rundrave
I can live with the trade and players, although I think its a bad trade, but that first round pick really gets me, especially if we dont make the playoffs again and have potential to draft high.I dont think we have to send the pick this year if we get a lottery pick, but the wolves wont be that bad....i hope
nofishfisherman
I just don't like getting Blount.he is under contract until 2010 and he got benched becuase he played so poorly. And he is getting paid way too much.Kandi part 2 anyone.
Big Pine Walleye
I think that they are trading Wally at the top of his game--remember a couple of years ago when Wally couldn't even guard his shadow--I think that this may be a move that might pan out as these players may fit Casey's system more. Wally and KG never really got along all that well and that may have added a piece to this puzzle. I am not saying that Wally was not the second best player on this team right now--but there is a huge drop-off between #1 and #2-5!!Just my 2 cents! bucketmouth64
Listening to kfan and it seems like there still was this underlying thing between KG and Wally. Both are being pro's about their relationship. So this was a chemistry thing too. I too think they should have tried for Paul Pierce. Then make other trade for Steve Francis. The 1st round draft picks are conditional. If they are lottery picks then we keep them. I think they also should've tried to dump Hassell and Hudson. Just think we could've got Artest too if Wally was on the block. Pacers need a center now that O'neal is out with injury. Also, touched on at kfan is that Rex Chapman is behind some of these moves. He might be groomed to be next GM or something. Wonder if McHale is on his way out or he is giving up the ship at seasons end. That in itself would be something to cheer about. Stratosman
Something had to be done as this team is an ebarrassment, and painful to watch. Wally is good and I like him, but not a good ball-handler or defender, and when he is pressured with the ball, he is totally shut down, just llok at the game agains the Pistons, Flip knew that all he had to do was shut Wally down and let KG try to beat you, who else on this team can score? No-one. Now I'm not sure if I like what we received for what we got, but we will soon find out. At least no Kandi to watch suffer on the court. eyechaser99
Great Trade! We finally got davis and a center who can score. I would still like them to try and trade for Steve Francis yet.
bigbucks
I like the trade personally. Kandi was terrible, Blount so far has shown that at least you have to guard him or he'll score. I like Wally, he's a great shooter, but pretty one dimensional & can't for the most part get his own shot.I agree for the most part that McHale's made some bad moves, but I just don't think this is one of them. For all of the star first round draft picks, most of which are in the top 5, which our's won't be, there are probably 2-3 or more duds. Marcus Banks was a first round draft pick, so was Ricky Davis I believe, so what's the difference? We needed not only different personality chemistry, but playing style chemistry. The Wolves went to the Western Conference finals, by getting the last bit of tread off the tire that was Lattrell Sprewell the slasher. When he lost another step, we were back to being a strictly jump shooting team & much more beatable, also his defense fell off at the same time. We did well when we had Hassell, Spree, & KG all defending at the same time, 3 tough defensive players. I think we'll see with Davis filling that role, we could improve a lot. If anyone remembers, Wally was hurt a good chunk of our best season. I agree he was our second best player, but he obviously wasn't the answer & I agree with whoever said that we "sold high" on him.I don't know the answer to this question, but how many rookies this year are having a big impact for their team & what positions were they drafted in?
