Someone out there have a best way of dealing with the new shelter tags? I got lucking and for this year I bought in March which was still the stick on tag . But there are a huge amount of FM'ers out there and a good way to attach the new tags should come out.

I've said this before.

Lets go back to the metal tags that had the date stamped into them. Just screw the tag onto your shack and forget about it.

The state also expects us snowmobilers to affix a new "trail sticker" to our snowmobiles but they don't come with adhesive on them either. What? confused.gif

I just picked mine up Friday, and the clerk gave me some adhesive paper to put on my tag. This way I will be able to attach it to my shelter just like last years tag. I'm not sure if all locations have this but, I got mine at the County license office (Same place as vehicle tabs).

Hanson- This will also work for the trail stickers cool.gif

I think we should adopt ND system. No shelter tags. This makes it very easy. Then you don't have to worry about losing the darn thing. I like Hansons idea but I wouldn't go that far back in time. Lets go back to the credit card size colored tags. Those were nice and there wasn't a problem. Plus the DNR didn't have to go right up to the house to check. Just drive by and if the color was the right year done deal no need to go right up to the house. I swear we are moving backwards not forwards. In a time of advanced depth finders, custom rods, GPS, and all the other technology you would figure there to be a better way.

I've read the regs several times and it is still unclear to me what needs to be on the outside of a portable fish house (aka dark house shelter). Can't be very dark inside with a propane lantern and LED lights.

Do I really need to put my DL number on the outside of the house? Seems like an identity theft nightmare. The blue shelter permit needs to be out there also?

Quote:

Full name and address in 2" lettering or DL, or DNR number. Pick your poison.

Just to clarify, one of those three has to be in 2" tall lettering... not just your name and address is you choose to go that route...
