Favorite soft plastic 'Creature Bait'

Best one made is now out of production. It was the Berkly Power Hawg before they decided to turn it into the Bungee Power Hawg. The whole Bungee thing was a mistake, just a advertising ploy to try and make something seem new with terrible results.

They changed the size and the length of the flappers on the sides and the length of the antennae, thus changing the bulk of the bait. The little Bungee deals on the side, Oh yeah, that really turned the fish on. Talked to the Berkly rep at the NW sportshow and he said he has heard the same thing a hundred times, but there are no plans to return to the original model.

The best color, green pumpkin.

Ah yes....

Like any plastic, the Christophersons copies are the way to go. They have all the popular plastic knock-offs at less than a fraction of the price of the "real" ones. grin.gif

I don't even recall what they call theirs, but its got the same results as the Senko knock-offs.

Search for "sweet beaver" on google and you will find plenty of shops to order online.. I did that and have a ton of them! although I don't really know how to use them. I tried putting them on a small weighted tube hook?

I've had great success with the Yamamoto "Kreature" Texas rigged.Downside is the don't last very long after a few fish.I'm o.k. burning through them though, as long as they keep catching me some hawgs!

Any length or weight on that fish Matt? I've been thinking of trying different soft plastics, but it's difficult when you use one type and continue to have success with it. Just sticking with the good ol rubber worm for now, red shad and junebug have been good colors for me also in the last couple weeks. This girl fell for an electric grape worm on Tuesday.

A chunky 20" fish that came in at 5.5 lbs.

That's about what I figured, dang Matt, dem poses of yours sure make it much more difficult for those of us who try and guess the weight. grin.gif

I picked up my first EXUDE plastics last week, the EXUDE NYMPH. Looks like a great hard water trout bait, can't wait to give em a go (in about 5 months crazy.gif ). I think it's time to broaden my horizons, I'll pick up some EXUDE BA HOGS and give em a go tomorrow. What is the sink rate of EXUDE plastic compared to POWERBAIT, is it more bouyant or less? Thanks for any info.

Duff....

If you don't know Matt, he will fit nicely into a 4" pipe, hence the fish he shows look very large. lol

As per the nymphs, I fished several different colors of them last weekend on MinnieBelle and caught a few sunnies on them. But if you are looking for a sure go-to for right now, both Matt and I have been tearing the pannies up using the Exude Micr Shads. Matt finds favor with the white pearl, but last weekend I did very well with the pink shad(fairly clear water). In the stained Mississippi backwaters down my way the white pearl really does rule.

Right now there are huge shoals of very small foreage fry showing up in the weedy shallows and these Micro Shads fit the bill to a "T".

Small hair jigs will do the trick now too, but that scented plastic is simply hot.
