Guest
If someone was to pay 30k+ for a boat, which would you choose? Why are these two boats expensive? What sets them apart?
jigginjim
You pay more because this boats. Are built better, more time is spent in building each boat. Plus these guys have been on the market long than many others. I feel safer in my 17ft Ranger, than i do in a friends 20ft lund proV.
Tom Wilson
All Right another war!Ranger-Ranger-RangerSkeeter does make a good boat though.

Pherris
I have owned a Lund and now own a Ranger so my vote is Ranger, cant say anything about skeeters never been in one.
farmislandeye
RANGER-- better storage-- better built-- better boat. But i dont think your going to find one for around 30k!
senkoskipper
I'd say ranger. Theres a reason why all the pros have either a ranger or triton. Also, i dont think a skeeter can stay afloat like the ranger when its all cut up into pieces and 12 people standing in it.
Guest
Most boats have that much flotation now days. Ranger has more standard features. Thats one reason why they cost more.
ChuckN
I own a Skeeter. I love the boat and it's built like a tank. I've been in Rangers...and I will keep my Skeeter. Don't get me wrong, I like Rangers, but I really like the Skeeter hull much better for dryness, performance and speed. Plus, I think you get more Skeeter for the money compared to a Ranger. basmastermatt
Ranger will win this battle every day. But first let me ask this. Where can I find a Ranger for 30K (new out the door), and I will take a bakers dozen. If you want the best, want to fish out of the best, have the money, want the resale, buy a RANGER! It is the Cadilliac! Are you in the market for a bass boat or a multi-species boat? Fit and finish Ranger takes it hands down. But it will cost you 15k more. The new Z series are starting at 45-50K depending on the motor you hang on it. I have a Z20 like new with a 225 ETEC on it with all the bells and whistles for sale for a great price if you are interested. Take them akk for a ride and you will be able to feel the ride and handling that a Ranger offers. Best of luck.
ricqik
You should check out skeeters video on their site. Click on "product line" then click on "skeeter engineering". I see more rangers and skeeters in tournaments then tritons. Once you move up to the top end bassboats, it's all personal preference, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Rost
Ranger, Skeeter, and Triton Boats are no doubt some of the finest boats on the market. But there is a big reason why a lot of the pros fish out of Rangers in particular... MONEY! The FLW is absolutely packed with Rangers. Why? It's called contingency money. The ranger company offers additional money to any person that owns one and cashes a check. Now, for the moral of the story. The PWT (for example) has a variety of boat brands. But if Triton became the main sponsor of the PWT offering additional money (like ranger does in the flw), I guarentee several pros would make the switch. It's all personal preference. Each brand has it's strong and weak points.
Guest
But the thing is Cadillac's don't have resale. I mean, sure they cost alot new but the resale value is not there. You mean to say the skeeter / rangers are the bmw / mercedes of the boats??Quote:If you want the best, want to fish out of the best, have the money, want the resale, buy a RANGER! TravisC
i ran a 02 skeeter for two years good boat. fished out of two 621s in a flw tourney wasnt impressed. id say the skeeter has more storage dryer ride and is faster. for the money id take the skeeter and the flw does pay extra cash for running a skeeter also. not trying to bash ranger just my honest opinion. ricqik
When I purchased mine it was down to the ranger 520 or skeeter 250. When the boat is at rest, you can't beat the skeeter for stability. The ranger rocks just a bit more but still plenty stable, plus I wanted max power and skeeter offered it. I just love the tq my 300HPDI makes. Guest
which skeeter do you have ricqik?
Northlander
I find Skeeters rather homely looking. Nice boats but not very eye friendly. The Rangers I have been in are very nice boats. The Tritons I have seen look very nice and I like the storage/floreplan layout better than the Rangers. I have never been in one bit the guys I know that have them like them.I think if I had the $ and was looking at these three it would be between Ranger and Triton just because the Skeeters dont lok good to me. I do know that the Rangers trailers are sweat to load and unload from. Almost centers the boat all by itself.

ricqik
Yes, I do love fishing, also got an very understanding lady too. Last year we used my brothers 18' tournament tracker and always get passed by faster boats to our spots. Fishing a spot someone else just as good or better has already clean out made for many losses. Having a fast boat doesn't garantee you'll catch fish but getting there first does increase your odds.
