X-Rap help?

I have heard such great things about the new x-raps. I have 3 of them.. pink, blue, perch. I have fished them for at least 7 days so far on WBL (other lures are producing)... I have yet to catch a single fish on these! I try a steady retrieve.. a jerking retrieve... a random erratic retrieve... what's up with that?

Anyone having success with these? They look SO good in the water.. but can't snag anything but a few weeds.

A super slow cranked ghost was killer on fall walleyes on Oneida/barge canal last fall. I would try slowing it down, what I like about X raps are that they cast like a rocket.

Sly- ALthough jerkbaits are a great lure, the really good jerkbait bite is over. JErkbaits are one of the best prespawn lures made, we are far from pre-spawn now. As fish go deeper expecially on lakes like White Bear, the jerkbait will not get deep enough to get into thier strike zone.

I've had excellant results from the x-raps on smallies and eyes. But like Deitz said, that was a quite a few weeks ago.

I really caught a lot of fish on X-Raps the first few weeks of the season too. I caught the most fish on mine by using a ml spinning rod. It seems like I got more "jerk" out of it with the lighter action and that seemed to turn them on even more.

I caught quite a few smallies over the 4th up near Ely. Got to them early in the a.m. when they were feeding up in shallower rocks. I actually had a few rods rigged up with different baits to throw depending on the depth I was at when I was crusing the shorlines. I'd say 90% of the smallies I caught were in less than 8 feet and almost all of them were on the xrap. I was using a heavy action baitcaster.

PS.. how can they be good "prespawn" when you can't target fish prespawn?

sly-many times our season for bass opens before the spawn, this year wa one of them. Also, I do a lot of fishing in WI and thier bass season opens 2 weeks sooner. Jerkbaits are usually also good just following the spawn, yet as I stated earlier the jerkbait bite falls off once the fish start to head deeper. There is a pretty good jerkbait bite again in the fall, you may want to hold on to those baits!

We had excellent luck with X-raps up on LOW a couple weeks ago fishing northern with them. We were retrieving, then giving it a quick jerk and letting it sit for about a count of 3 before retrieving again. I bet 90+% of all the strikes we had were on that 3 count pause.

The above may be common knowledge, but until our guide told us the above technique, we were just using a steady retrieve.

What about trying to rig them on a three-way swivel set-up and troll them slowly right off the bottom for eyes? I have not done this yet with mine, but with the side to side wobble those X-raps have, I would have to imagine it could do pretty good. What do you guys think?

What state?

It was in Canada. Red Gut Bay. I believe they were post spawn because the size of the fish were not great, but, we caught solid numbers each time out. The X-rap was my go to bait. Jerk pause, Jerk Jerk pause, etc.

Didn't you get my reply? Yikes.. I think gmail can't email hotmail or something! Every email I sent from gmail didn't work.. although I got the carbon copy so I know they went out. Oh well.. yep.. cash is cool.. wrap in a shoot of paper so one can't see through the envelope!

Bad News- through an unfourtunate seris of events, the remainder of my money until my next pay check has been misplaced, it was in my wallet last time I looked......so if you just want to offer them to someone else thats fine....I can't expect you to wait on me so if you just want them to move thats fine.
