Fleet Farm

Recommended Posts

Just to let you all know, Fleet Farm has really gotten into the game. The Lakeville store has recently been remodeled and they have more hunting and fishing gear then ever! I always check there first for tackle but I was very impressed with how large their fishing department is now. The selection was incredible for lures, including musky lures.

I bought a Bulldawg, Suick, Raddog like spinners, and a bunch of raps. They didn't have the gloves I was looking for so I went across the street to Gander. While I was there I compared prices of things I just bought and was amazed that Gander was at least twice as much, sometimes three times more expensive. The small tackle box I bought was $24 at Gander and the exact same one I got for $8.99 at Fleet Farm. Raps were $2.49 there that were $5.99 at Gander.

No I don't work for Fleet Farm, nor do I have a vested interest of any kind. I just think that when a place offers that good of pricing, they deserve a little word of mouth advertising.

Don't get me wrong, I still get excited every time I walk into Gander, and some things Fleet just doesn't carry. All I'm saying is do yourself a favor and check at Fleet first.

When was Fleet Farm not in the game??? They have always carried a very large variety of fishing lures for all species, hunting supplies for just about everything, traps, what don't they have?

They don't have hot chicks and beer! But it is still the best Man's store.

Deacon... have to not concur with that. It is second. Cabelas has got to be first! I shop a lot at both but the Cabelas store is way cooler on the inside. Prices are just a bit cheaper at Fleet though! Take care and N Joy the Hunt././Jimbo

Fur me, it's about a toss up. Shells especially are usually cheaper at Owatonna FF & if I need farming tools, and happen to stumble over to the fishing tackle, etc., it's the place to go. The selection probably runs deeper overall at Cabellers & on their special weekends, one can score a bunch of stuff for a song, provided you're a Club Member. It is way cooler on the inside, too. grin.gif

You guys know what they say, "If Fleet Farm doesnt have it, you dont need it"

The best store ever. Cabelas is a distant second to Fleet Farm (When it comes to "Men" stores). The only thing I dont like is they dont carry rods like St. Croix and G-Loomis, but they do carry Fenwick.

Fleet Farm, it is for me!!:) I used to stop by gander but they were always out of many of the items I was after so now I dont even waste my time stopping at gander. I also found out that Fleet is most of the time cheaper and I never hear the same old story that (we've got a truck coming in on Friday) from fleet farm. 2 Thumbs up for Fleet Farm. I just found it to be stupid to go to Gander then ending up at Fleet farm. confused.gif

Heck, I was able to buy a Valentines day card for my wife while I was in Fleet Farm buying fishing line in February! If they start selling beer I may never shop anywhere else again.

I told my wife that if they had groceries and tall sized clothes (I'm 6'7" and 350lbs), I would never shop anywhere but Fleet Farm. When I shop at Fleet Farm, I use my Cabela's Visa to earn free stuff from Cabela's so I don't have to pay the big Cabela's prices. And you can't beat Fleet Farm on lure prices.

Stores that I like to shop from:

1. Cabelas

2. Fleet Farm

3. Thorne Bros (on line)

4. Bass Pro (on line)

5. gander mountain

I hate gander. They never seem to have what I want as far rods (Loomis) and various reels. The new cabelas in Rogers will be great but the owatonna one is almost easier to get to from Eagan. I love the cabelas in Kansas City. (i travel a lot)

I concur with everyone else that the Fleetfarm in Lakeville is great. But I would much rather wander through Cabelas any day than any of the other stores discussed.

Bass Pro and thorne bros seem to have good deals on electronics every once in a while.

Living in the west metro, it is a bit of a trip to go to FF or Cabelas, although I like both stores. That leaves Dick's and Gander Mountain. I live closest to Gander. I am continually amazed how they can be out of every day items time after time.

I stopped by there for my "stock up for the season" rampage in April. They were out of everything from 10 pound fireline, to red treble hooks, to 6 pound mono in low vis green! It was a rare visit where they actually had crank baits in stock so I did pick up a few of those. Usually, the popular colors like Perch shad raps are always out of stock. I threw up my hands in frustration and went elsewhere. A couple weeks later I decided to take the plunge and upgrade my sonar/gps. Stopped at Gander - out of stock. Again got it elsewhere. I stopped at Gander first both times but ended up spending about $25 of a total of around $1000 there... simply because they couldn't keep things in stock. I see in today's Strib business section that Gander continues to struggle. I wonder if that has to do with more guys having experiences like me?

Schnauzer - You must be referring to the Gander on 7, right? I agree with you, that place is weak. Unfortunately I am in the same boat as you that there just isn't any other places on this side of town that are worth a hoot when it comes to fishing/hunting equipment. Dang, time to move I guess!!

Yes, the one at 7 and 101. I also forgot to mention: After I went elsewhere for the depth finder, I realized I forgot to buy a RAM mount for it. I started with Gander again (glutton for punishment). I had learned my lesson enough to call this time instead of just hop in the car. Guess what... OUT OF STOCK. So, I said I had made two stops there to spend $25 of what grew to over $1000. That is incorrect, I tried THREE times and struck out. Made all purchases elsewhere.

That Gander on 7th is an armpit compared to some of there other stores. I've had the same experience (Out of stock)with the their big superstore in Lakeville so it isn't just the "armpit" store.

I got a good deal on a rod there the other day. I guess you just have to go there not wanting to buy a certian thing, just go there to browse. I bought the Guide Series IM7 7 foot medium heavy casting rod for $40.

After reading some of the posts, it clear to me that we could use a Fleet Farm in the West Metro! I had heard once that one was coming out around Hwy. 5 & 41. Has anyone heard anything? I love shopping at the Farm but, hate the drive.

Dont get my hopes up Shwangman, I drive through that intersection every day. There is quite a bit of construction going on around there though, so it could be true.
