How many paintballers do we have out there? What kind of guns?

I've got an ol' Stingray, a cheapy I believe. I paid 25 dollars for it. I just want to see what brands other people have purchased, and would like some suggestions on a new one.I will be upgrading soon. Not looking at anything too expensive, no more than $150.

Also, I've heard of people freezing thier CO2 tanks, how come? I saw a friend do it, So I do it, but I forgot why. confused.gif

thanks

I was also wondering if we got any of those on here!

I've got the awesome $35 point zero. Not a great gun but added the 14" warpig barrel and it shoots pretty good. Hope to purchase a spider from my buddy for cheap soon but. . we'll see.

I'm not sure if I can put on a new barrel on mine or not, I wish I could. I dont think so. I've seen people with hundreds and hundreds of dollars of extras and I wasn't too impressed. Maybe if played more I would understand.

Hey guess what.....Crappiechaser and I have something in common afterall. grin.gif

The tippmann 98 looks like a decent gun actually, I don't know what you paid for it but I saw one for $139 dollars. the silver one look sharp, right in my price range. And you are right, money and time are big factors for me too. Since I have moved the only ones that play here are the highschool kids. I must teach them something. cool.gif Yeah right, hugh.

Also what kind of balls you guys shoot. I quickly found out that the cheap balls are just that. I now shoot PMI's. They seem to have a tougher skin and aren't that spendy.

Well what do you know there are some Paintball players on here laugh.gif

I myself love playing paintball, (When I'm not Bass Fishing) I have a Kingman Spyder Xtra, with a 16" Dye Boomstick barrel. I shoot only Marbalizer, and occasionally Diablo.

About the freezing the CO2, I've heard that it happens but I have no idea why.

Why do you freeze CO2 bottles before filling?

The best explanation comes from the Ideal gas law, or PV=nRT. Shortened for this to PV=T. Which states that the Pressure in a Volume is equal to the Temperature. The volume is the tank and the temperature is reduced to less than 32 degrees my a common refrigerator/freezer. The tank's volume does not change noticeably, so that by reducing the temperature you also reduce the pressure in the tank. The 40 lbs large tanks that we use to fill from now have a much higher pressure than the small 12 oz tanks that we are filling. Once the valve is opened, the gas seeks to equalize the pressure. Thus we move 12 oz of CO2 from one tank to the other. Without cooling the bottle off the pressure would equalize sooner and we would not get 12 oz.

I almost started a similar post last week!!

I started playing again after 15 years since my last game.

I bought a cheap BE Marauder, did some mods to it, bought a 18" Spyder barrel and she now shoots straight as an arrow and only breaks 1 out of 50 balls or less. I can pull off about 3-5 rounds per second if I wanted to, but I'm more into making the shot count than just spraying paint.

I got in with a group of about 30 guys and have been having a blast. Full cammo, woods, lots of fun.

We should get an FM paintball day set up. Would be nice to find 40 acres of woods where we can have fun shooting each other...LOL.

I shoot a Genesis Surge, and i have a Maruder for back up. Only problem is they are both out of service after the last time we shot it out in the mud and slop after the big winter thaw. My maruder really chops balls bad, but if i shoot slow enough its ok. The genesis is a fairly cheap gun, but even with the stock barrel its really accurate, i've picked off more than a few guys before they even thought about shooting. I shoot PMI balls or BE Afterburners aren't bad and pretty cheap. Another ball i have found to be ok, is Blue Streaks, they seem to shoot better in the cold for me, and we play alot in winter so thats a good thing.

If your looking to get into paintballing i would save the hassel and buy a 98 custom and then just leave is stock, it is the most realiable gun i've seen, and with the short barrel its fast and accurate, the flatline doesnt impress me but thats just my opinion.

If someone organizes an event within about an hour or so of me i'd be game to go. Im more of a capture the flag guy than a Speedball, more stratigy in Capture the Flag.

I shoot a tippmann 98 with the flatline barrel. If you want a gun that shoots straight and far, this is the setup. It takes a while to get the barrel set up just right, but when you do, it shoots awesome.

me and my friends set up a paintball course with sniper towers and wood and dug bunkers its really sweet course for us to play on. I shoot a tippman 98 custom with a 14 inch thunder pig $20.00 off hsolist lol. I just go get some cheap balls and go play lots of fun also. that would be fun to get a bunch of people from here and go play. i know of a place called combat zone where its all outdoors and they have many different courses. We go there in the summer and is always alot of fun.

Yea, my stock barrel chopped really bad, I actually expierimented and cut it down a ways a few times, and it still chopped, actually shot really well WITHOUT a barrel at all. After I bought the Spyder Barrel it shoots great and for the $20 I paid for the gun, well worth it.

I do like the 98's. If I get even more into it I will more than likely get one and keep the Marauder for a back-up.

I'm trying to organize a large game here around St Cloud. Just need to find about 40 acres to play on. I'll post it here and invite anyone who wants to show up. Would be fun to have a 30 on 30 capture the flag game. Another fun game we did was split into 4 teams and each would start at a corner of the woods. Last team standing won.

Gull guide, I have borrowed peoples barrels before and it does shoot better, but i can't see spending the money on another barrel for how cheap of a gun it is. Ill just sell them both an buy a 98 i think, or if i save some money an A-5, now there is a sweet set up.

Another crazy way to play is to take the 4 teams, put one flag up in the middle of the area and let people battle it out to get the flag to the base. Once your hit your out, and everyone is in bright colored shirts, so its like a speedball game, no one can hide, in a huge area, good times, good times.

Another one of our games we play is to have 2 people on 4-wheelers and 2 people beinh pulled behind in sleds ( winter activity ) and the people in back shoot it out as we go acrossed a feild. Not a very safe idea but hey its a good time none the less.

I always wondered what the point was in wearing brightly colored clothing while playing paint ball?...what fun is that?..lol

Wouldnt it be really fun to go to a golf course, get some golf carts and play "elimination golf"?..lol..object would be to get the ball in the cup before the other team(s) shot you...LOL...the greens would be brutal, making mad dashes with the putter while your other team mates covered you from the sand traps...LOL.

A version we've plaid is where each player gets 50 balls THAT'S IT. So it's more for the snipers than the guys blasted away. It evens the field more as the guys with Pumps aren't as outgunned as the semis cause you have to conserve more.

JP, that would make things interesting and a lot more fun.

I'm going to tell Toad next weekend that it would be fun to stage a real life version of Grand Theft Auto using paint ball...LOL.

I'll probably see ya next weekend on "Lake X"...lol

Yep, then the guys with the electrics that shoot 30-40 rounds/second are screwed. And it lets the entry level guys compete, which is very important if you want to get people into the sport.

Those are two ways of playing that I've never heard of before, sounds challenging enough.

All we do is find gravel pits and begin hunting each other. Sometimes one team vs. another or lets say 6 teams of 2 people and every team for themselves. never done capture the flag either.

It's always fun to learn new ways to play.

We played once in Camo, but the game took literally 3 hours, and for the people who were out at the beginning it was alot of sitting around a talk'ing. Although that was the day i shot 2 people with the barrel touching there legs and they didn't know i was there, HAHA good times.

So basically the shirts are to speed up the game some what, although with smaller groups, or time limits i prefer full camo, really makes it interesting with the possibility of being lit up from 4 ft away.

GullGuide, that would be the greatest thing ever, Elimination Golf, except i suck at golf, I'll cover from the bunker.

you can still shoot 15-20 balls per second with semi auto but you need a gun that can run that fast and fast fingers to go with it. and a fast hopper like a halo

Just curious how you guys are figuring your cyclic rates firing? Real guns: MG 42 german machine guns were one of the fastest firing single barrel guns ever. Sounds like ripping cloth. 1200 rounds per minute. = 20 rounds per second. Most other automatic weapons shoot about 600 rpm = 10 rps. Doing quick double tapping on a semi, I could see maybe 3 rounds per second = 180 rounds per minute. Except you aren't going to keep it up for a minute.

I was just curious, the firing rates have me confused, just seem way high? confused.gif

I realize a minigun can shoot 6000 rpm, thats 100 rps, but thats a minigun! cool.gif

When I've played against people with full autos, I don't doubt there firing at least 10 balls per second. All you see coming out of the barrel is a green blur, and the paint comes at you in a stream, i think that the balls are about a foot apart, or at least thats what it seems, you never get hit just once, its always 4 or 5 times.

well a hair trigger makes it not to hard. it sounds dumb but you have to practice tapping your fingers fast on like a pen or a desk and on most feilds you cant use full auto. i can only get up to like 15-17 bps but thats fast for me
