I love the movement in this bass forum.. I just got to looking and the bass forum has almost 2000 more posts than the second highest forum relating to fish and that was muskie and northern. Which as moderator of this board it made me proud to be a part of this group. Thanks to all that post questions, and answer them here on FM. Keep up the great work!

Now that I got the warm fuzzies off my back! What are your goals for this season comming up?

For me, this year will be a year of slowing down. I fished in 27 tounaments last year. And for me that was just a little too much. I didn't get out fun fishing as much as I would have liked or out fishing with friends either. So my goal for this year, is to fish with friends and leave the majority of tounaments out. I would like to meet up with many of my FM family as well and meet on the lake some time. FM does quite a few ice fishing get togeathers, I woud like to throw a Bass Get togeather. My idea would be that we get as many boaters as possible and non boaters and fish a few hours and then switch partners so that you have a chance to fish with others from FM..

Lastly a goal of mine... I started hosting the Hot Bite Fishing show this last winter.. some of you may have seen them. I hope to continue on during the open water and get better with my on camera skills.

Thanks again Everybody... great to be a FM bass poster!

I'm with you Deitz! I plan to slow down my presentation using smaller plastics (3-4 inch stuff w/ mushroom jigs)andlearn how to fish deeper structure. Those are my two goals this year. I'll be partner fishing in a bass league with my 8 year old Grandson so that should also slow me down a little. Heh-Heh! He has more patience than I. This will give me an opportunity to enjoy fishing with my family and that is priceless!

Regards,

Ole the Guide

I'm a very surface oriented bass fisherman so....

Catch a bass on a jig & plastic

Catch a bass on a T-rigged worm

Catch a bass on a Carolina Rig

Gotta learn these techniques. Any tips would be appreciated. Could take me all summer to do this.

I started as a bass/pike fisherman so...

Do more walleye fishing even though my cabin is on a bass lake.

Fish the Mississippi (doing that next week for walleyes)

Fish Upper Red (got that one out of the way in March)

I, Ray Esboldt, set the following goals for bass fishing this summer.

1) Be a bit more of a risk taker on the water. I've been known to milk every last biter from a known spot (tournament fishing in particular). I know when to hold them; I've got to know when to fold them.

2) Get back to probing the real deep water like I use to. A September club tournament last year refreshed my memory that 25 foot deep rocks can give you a limit in a hurry.

3) Try as hard as possible to slow down out in the wind. Sometimes Ma Nature makes that virtually impossible, but every time I've toughened up mentally and done it I've experienced good results. Deitz, did I ever tell you how much I love fishing in the wind? grin.gif

Hey guys, I'm new here and have a question. Who is this Deets guy? I thought deet was a bug repellant. He must have a really big head to have all that knowledge! Just kidding Dietz! Had fun working the sportshow with you again this year and looking forward to next year. As far as goals, mine for this year is to win a Fishers of Men tournament, had a 3rd & 4th last year and several money finishes in 2 years,so I'm dying to win one.

Yup, I know it's a phenomenal bass lake. I've caught the 3 biggest bass of my life on that lake in just the last 2 years and all on top water stuff. Hello, I'm gspman and I'm a top water addict. smirk.gif I just can't break myself of the top water gig.

I need to catch some fish with these other techniques to build some confidence with them. I may have to leave my top water stuff in my home so it's far away from the lake so I can't use it.

Abasser is a fellow prostaffer with MisterTwister, and a heck of a hook. A great addition to our FM family.. even if it means I catch a few more cheep shots! Best of luck sir on your tournaments this year!

My advice is to just start trying them in locations you know hold bass. Dont give up on them too quick, catch some fish and gain confidence. Last year one of the first trips out I dedicated it to Learning Texas rigs. Even though my dad was catching fish on jerkbaits I stuck with the T rig and caught my biggest bass (5lb. 12oz.) another pig got off, I also landed a walleye.

Gotta get a true 6lb MN largemouth! Missed it by 2 ounces last year. tongue.gif On the tourney scene, I'm breaking in a new partner with far less experience than my brother. May take a little adjusting. I'm looking forward to being the "captain" so to speak. Success/failure will be determined by my decisions alone for the first time.

2005 goals:

1. target bass this year, gotta have a 5 pounder for starters.

2. Try one new spot every time out on the lake.

3. do more experimenting with lures.

4. Never get skunked.

Deitz, i'm almost embarrased to ask, but I haven't heard of your show, when is it on so I can look for it?

gspman,

I too live in eagan, some great bass lakes in the area. I'm only 17, but if you want we could maybe go fishing sometime. I only use a canoe around here but it gets the job done. Me and a buddy of mine know of some great spots around here, we could defitnetly meet your goals of catchin them bass under the surface! Always good to meet other FMers too (I think the bass get together would be great)Reply if your interested

Same goal as every year- Catch that state record Largemouth. cool.gif

More attainable goals;

Catch 6 largemouths over 20"

Maybe another dozen between 19"-20"

Beat my personal best of 22 1/8"

Guide some more co-workers to their biggest bass ever.

Get out fishing at least one weekday a week.
