First Ice-Mike
I'm thinking about buying a new Crestliner Fishhawk before this years fishing season. Anyone have any opinions on this boat? It's a new Fishhawk or a mid-ninetis Lund Pro-V - which way would you go?? FI
gspman
I have a Fish Hawk 1750 and like it. It's a nice boat at a good price point. It's laid out well and is very "fishable" for me. Some will say that it's a little short on storage but I haven't found that to be the case yet. One thing to consider is the type of water you will be primarily fishing. Will the Fish Hawk be able to take the beating a Pro-V could if you were on big rough water a lot? Over time probably not. But I don't fish water like that much so the Fish Hawk is good for me. If you want a new boat get the FishHawk, if you fish big rough water maybe the Pro V is a better choice. I put a F115 Yamaha on mine and have been very happy. Now if I could only talk the missus into a Yamaha T8 kicker..... My life would be complete with a T8. Well maybe not, there's new walleye rods, splash guards, bow & stern electronics, planer boards, drift socks, ATV..... Sigh. So many needs, so little money. Matt Breuer
I too run the 1750 Fish Hawk. I have a side concole and absolutely love it! Like GSP said, I've never had a problem with storage or fishability. I run a 115hp Optimax and she flys! It's the goto boat for the money in my opinion! bnbrk94
i have a 1994 lund pro-v 1660. i bought it last year and had it on big water and small. it seemed to handle fine for both. it has a 60 horse merc tiller on it and for the lakes that i mainly fish it is more than enough boat for me. Fish Head
I just purchased an Alumacraft Navigator. I also looked at the Fish Hawk, Lund Explorer and the Lund Mr. Pike. The Fish Hawk was the first one I crossed off my list. For me it not only didn’t have enough storage, but more importantly it didn’t have enough space! It also didn’t seem like it wouldn’t handle some of the bigger water well and just didn’t seem to be built as solid. However, some guys seem happy with theirs. Get whatever fits your needs and your style of fishing best. Just my $.02 Good luck!
mudman
I just bought a fishhawk 1650 consul last fall and used it quit a bit on mille lacs, work fine in 3 fters. it is a little small for space for what I want, but then again I want it all for nothing I have a 90 honda and she tops out around 45mph. storage is fine, I have 20 rods and that seems to work fine as long as I put a game plan together before getting on the water. Riverratpete
Got a new 1750 last spring and ran her on small water and big (winnie in the wind, across the lake), I fish primarily wallys, Muskies and Bass when I'm bored and have had zero problems and very comfortable . Another thing, don't know if it matters, but it's also fine to haul the wife and kids around and do some tubing and skiing. Have the flip up or down back bench seat(which is an upgrade)that is sweet when just goofing around.125 Merc makes her get up and go.
Esoxmn
Matt Breuer What do you get for a top speed?
Matt Breuer
When I first bought it and broke it in, I ran about 37 mph on the gps. I added a stainless prop and played with pitch and have topped out at 49. I rarely run full out, but when I do it's somewhere in the 40-42 mph range. More than enough for me! gspman
I run an aluminum prop (don't remember the specs on it) but I get either 45 or 50 with it (can't remember). Thats GPS speed too and as fast as I care to go.
Mark Christianson
I've got a 1750 Fishhawk tiller with a 75 Hp Honda.LOVE IT! Storage has never been an issue for me either. Honestly, I think its got plenty of storage.Mine tops out about 33-35 mph if I remember right. It would be sweet to have a 90hp tiller, but the darn boat is rated at 80 hp max. Sandbar
FI,I have the 1850 Fish Hawk DC with a Suzuki DF140. I am completely satisfied with the boat. It has tons of room and plenty of storage. You can get a little wet in rough water, but the lower gunnels make it perfect for fishing. I would buy the same boat again.Sandbar
Esoxmn
I have the 1750 also, the only problem i have is not the amout of storage ,but that everything gets wet in the storage. I know they came out with a coating on the storage doors on the new ones though. My next boat will be the 1850 Fishhawk.
Pete Riola
I too run a 1750 FishHawk. Mine has a 115 and tops out at 48 in the spring and 43 after I've hit a few rocks and turned the aluminim prop a bit. Hoping to step up to stainless. What trolling motor do you guys run? I need a new one. Since I fish a lot of species on the same day I carry a lot of stuff including my cameras. To me the boat is a touch short on storage. I fish some big water and it does pretty well. I love the deck on the front its huge.
FullTilt
Matt,I have the same boat with the same horse power motor. I was wondering what the pitch is on the stainless prop you're using, thanks.

MJCatfish
After owning a 1750 Pro Am Crestliner for 5 years, I bought a 1750 FishHawk with a 80 hp Yamaha tiller on the back. I loved my Pro Am, but I was looking for a newer model and 4 stroke. Crestliner quit making Pro Ams in about '97. The Fishhawk served me well last year and is able to handle big water. I had it out on Leech and Lake of the Woods, just to name a couple. I did notice that I had to become a little more crafty in storing things, though. There was a little more storage in the ProAm. I, too, like the big front casting deck and feel I have plenty of floor space. Of course, that's just one of the reasons why I run a tiller. Good luck in your selection! Whatever you choose, you'll be happy with it.MJ
Matt Breuer
Pete, I run a MinnKota 74 lb. AP/PDI can't remember the pitch, will let you know when I get it back next week, or can find the reciept.
bnbrk94
mjcatfish, what do you run for a trolling motor on your boat?
nthomps66
I bought a new Fishhawk 1750 SC last summer with a Yamaha F90 four stroke. I could have had a 125 Merc 2-stroke for the same price. The four stroke is awesome. I love how quiet it is. I do all types of fishing and this boat has tons of deck space and adequate storage for me. I also would buy the same boat if I had to do it over again. I'm dying to get it back out of storage!!!
MJCatfish
Being that I run a tiller, I have a transom mount MinnKota Vector 3X 55 lbs thrust. Works pretty well for me. Sometimes I think about touching it up to a 24 volt system with more thrust. If it gets too rough to run it, I'll use my big motor and throw out a drift sock.MJ
Mark Christianson
Hey MJYou have to toss out a drift sock to back troll when its rougher water?I have a 75 Honda, and I got rid of my drift sock. The old Honda trolls down awesome in even a light chop. I assume the Yammie is a 4 stroke?

MJCatfish
BLB,I don't always use the sock, but it does seem like I'm clipping pretty good without it. Maybe I need to adjust the idle on the Yammy. Yes, it's a four stroke.MJ
