icehousebob
Wag, Years back, I used to run a pair of coonhounds. I was leaving one evening and she told me that I cared more about those darn dogs than her. I told her no, that I liked her and the dogs equally. Wrong move, she didn't see the humor in it. I was afraid the locks were going to be changed while I was out hunting. Went hunting anyway.

hightines
Here's a tip for the males out there. Tell your female friend that you would like to take a trip to the lake or a trip to the bedroom. It's a win/win situation either way. I'm bettin that most of you will be off to the lake. BackHerUp
It's obvious you didn't get to know each as well as you thought...my wife understands that I need to go out and fulfill my "hunter/gatherer instincts"! I work my butt off, I make good money, don't spend a lot of it foolishly (the family comes first and foremost) and provide our family with great health coverage and LIFE INSURANCE!!... That said, she encourages me to go out as often as I can, because she knows it's healthy for me...to leave my work obligations aside. She's even told me in the middle of a home project to "take a break, go fishin' or something!". I've often joked, "I'll go, if you need time with your boyfriend"...(BTW: she's not like that, she's just a great and very caring wife and mother)...she even goes icefishing with me! borchawk1
Quote:She doesn't give me too much dump about fishing as I fish with her Father all winter. He is an excellent ice angler and a great Father-In-Law. I must be one of the lucky ones. Now try to buy a truck without her knowing is a whole different story, one that I won't be repeating any time soon. She still holds that one against me...easier to ask for forgiveness then ask for permission! Luckily she is a forgiving person as well. We have been married almost 4 1/2 years and have a 11 month old baby boy who will hopefully be destined to many days on the lake with his dad in the future.Take care!SUNNYD That was one thing I wish I had, my wife only has a sister, my brother-in-law doesn't fish and her dad is barely in the picture. She's pretty good about letting me out, but with a 14 month old boy and another due in Sept. I'm thinking my trips will diminish significantly! Luckyly I have a decent boat payment that will need justifying (she won't make me sell it, she loves to eat fish too much). I just make sure the freezer only contains enough fish for a meal or two, that way I have to go out and catch more!
borchawk1
Quote: Long ago, I told my wife I was going fishing and she said no. She didn't understand that I wasn't asking permission, but making a statement. What kind of wife would not want her husband out hunting and gathering so his family has some form of dead meat to throw on the fire. If you let her make the rules, next thing you know you'll be painting your nails, getting in touch with your feelings, and voting for democrats. Eeeeehh! Granny
My wife and I do a lot of fishing together and its one of the reasons we liked eachother in the first place. FishForTheFun
I think I love to fish just as much as my husband. I wish I would of thought of the fishing rods for our wedding. For our honeymoon we were going to go ice fishing up north but had really bad weather, so we went to South Dakota and fished there. Its not good when we go to Cabelas or any other fishing store. We both r buying more stuff. It is surprising if were not fishing every weekend. We bought a cabin on a lake so we can go whenever we want. I grew up fishing, but i think if u take the time to get them interested in it they will love it. Have fun and be safe!!

Beeman
Hey all. I had to sign up just so I could answer the,"are all wives like this'? So glad to see I'M not alone. The Grebe
Now that could present a set of problems now could'nt it! A game warden, doing a late night check at your fish house, might think, "Boy, from the looks of that guy, he must REALLY like ice fishing?"
