Pine Marten

Here are a couple of pics from early Dec of a pine marten on a deer carcass that I have hanging in the backyard.

Those little guys are so cool!  I know your not looking to harvest it but didn’t the season just open?  Took the word out of my thumbs @smurfy

Wander, I do believe the season just opened.

 

bobberineyes, we have not seen any other critters but the woodpeckers and chickadees sure like it.

 

leech, my friend killed it and yes it was tagged.

 

smurfy, my wife thought the same thing. She was expecting a rib cage with some fat on it and at first was thinking it was too gross to hang up. We thought about leaving it on the ground for the wolves but she got used to it pretty fast once the pine marten showed up.

Some of the  critters we have up here definitely say "DA Nort woods." This and just recently there was a picture someone took along the north shore of a family of lynx

I’ve never seen a Pine marten or a lynx. I have seen plenty of fisher, though

I have been lucky enough to have seen all three in our yard. It did take the carcass to bring the pine marten in though.

Still waiting to see a wild cat....... bobcat, lynx, or mountain lion.

Except for a wolverine, I have all of the weasel family checked off.
