Walleyehooker
Looking at picking up a bigger hub shelter. What do you have or like.
RoldGold
I have the Cabelas Ice Team 360TC (thermal cap). It will easily fit 2-3 ppl. Easy to set up/take down. If it's not real cold out, it heats easily with my little buddy heater. It has windows all the way around which is great, and they can all be closed if u r spearing. I've used it about 7 times and love it. It's on sale now, check Cabelas page, read some reviews (all 5 stars!).
gunner55
We picked up a Eskimo i949 towards the end of last season. Haven't had a chance to use it much but seems to be well made & < $
lungdeflator
+2 on the Eskimo. My brother in law has one, not sure of the model, but it is fully insulated and has plenty of room. The base is really wide (compared to my old clam hub). We use it for a portable spear shack and it works out great. Pretty cheap too if I remember right. gunner55

Richj
Have the Eskimo Quickfish 3 and love it. On our 3rd season.
Walleyehooker
I have a couple quickfish 3s and they do work very well. But I wanted a bigger one to fish 2 people and all the gear more comfortably. I also like that these are insulated and the black interior in case a person wanted to spear out of it. Some good sale prices on these right now to. I ordered this one on line for 249 + tax and free shipping. Should be here today or tomorrow. Thanks for the replies
GillAssasin13
Great choice on the Eskimo 949i! For 2-3 people I loved that hub. I've no upgraded to the 6120i, simply because I'm normally hub fishing with 4 or 5 people when I take it out.
nofishfisherman
Do you think the 949i would be big enough to fish 2 adults and 2 small kids? Probably only have 4 holes drilled for the 4 of us.

I have a 8x8' Hub, fishes 4 people very easy, just drill a hole in each corner, line up along the walls, leaves a lot of room in middle for gear

They will only get bigger lol. You won't be disappointed with more room, I promise you that. That is why I upgraded to the 6120i last year. I even fish it with only 2 guys some days, and its awesome for this too. Its a horse a piece setting up with the 949i. IF I only ever fished 2 or 3 guys, I'd still have a 949i it was a great shack. But, the 6120i is just more versatile and its great for 2 guys all the way up to the 4 or 5 I've fished from it regularly. Hope this helps! nofishfisherman
I appreciate the info. My buddy and I both have young kids that will be coming out with us now that they are getting a little older and we both have 2nd kids on the way. It will be a couple years before we both have 2 kids fishing with us but I'll stick to the larger house so that there is room to grow. pushbutton
8x8's, no matter the brand are for the most part 3 person houses IMO......especially for kids. Holes by doors usually means foot in holes.....lol.
nofishfisherman
Yeah the holes are the biggest concern of mine. One of them is bound to put a foot in one of them if they aren't out of the way.

busse3775
Stuck between the 949i and the quickfish 3i. There would only be two of us fishing in it so trying to decide if I would need the 949i.

BUT, speaking solely from personal experience if you are between sizes go with the larger one. You will never be upset you have more room... I had a 949i and honestly loved it for 2-3 guys. Now I normally take 3-4 people out when I use the hub so I went up to a 6120i and its perfect. gunner55
Juan Grande
Cabelas has the Cabelas Ice Team XL2000 thermal on sale for $258. There is a TC version that only has a thermal cap (roof) but the XL2000 is full thermal. They were out of these in-store so they gave me a Clam XL 4000T for $279 instead. Clam makes Cabelas' fish houses so it's pretty much the same thing. The Clam house is 6" bigger on each side though. I think the Eskimo 949i was $369 there. CaptainMusky
A brand I had never heard of until recently is Polar Bird. They are fully insulated, metal hubs and fiberglass poles. They even have an insulated floor that you can put in. Look pretty slick. Something else to check out. Lots of nice storage netting as well. That is one thing some of the other lack.
