Yeah and I also found that you should avoid "well your not my mother"

The economy rides on this one....and valentines, and halloween, and xmas, and thanksgiving (or at minimum the day after) and most other 'holidays'. There are no holidays anymore, just a bunch of days where we are told that if we don't spend with reckless abandon, we are not good people.

I used to take my 2 sons fishing on mothers day weekend, giving my wife the whole weekend to herself. She always thought it was a great mothers day present!

And God forbid Hallmark put Father's day and Mother's day cards out at the same time. noooo you gotta go back a month later. There just isn't enough room.

I like the swap idea though. Maybe MN needs to make the switch. My group does opener the weekend after. Saves on the headaches.

Never understood why we do opener on a Holiday weekend - just do it the weekend before like WI and be done w it. Could save a lot of marriages

Well then she is getting screwed because nothing happens on that day! You can hardly find a Fathers day Buffet any where but just look at every restaurant or bar you drive by this week!

my late mother and dad moved to our family cabin when they retired. It was perfect I had to go see her on mother's day and she loved walleye so we both got to do what we wanted. What a lady!

I wish they would take Mothers Day - Fathers Day - Valentines Day and the other days created by the Greeting Card and Flower companies and have them all on the 2nd Wednesday in February when we are all home and ready for a good meal out.

My wife always looked forward to me being gone Opening weekend. When the kids were living at home I'd give them cash to take her out for lunch or dinner.
