Which multi tool do you find suits your needs best for fishing and hunting/camping trips you do? I broke my Gerber and looking at the Leatherman line now leaning towards the Wave but open to opinions on what they offer. I like that they are made in usa and have good warranty. Thanks

I have more of these multi-tools than I can count. Never bought one, all of them were gifts of some sort or another. My favorite by far is the original Leatherman that is over 20 years old. All the tools on it I use often enough that I can justify carrying it with me. No unnecessary tools that I never use and is small enough to carry in my front pants pocket. It did come with a nice leather case but I don't like using them as the snaps can hook on things and come open.

I also like the original leathermans buddy has had one forever. I definitely feel like something is missing without one of some sort. I looked at Gerbers warranty and you have to have original proof of purchase to get it well that was in 1998... I am looking for a no questions asked stand by your product company like Leatherman. I believe they were the original multi tool.

I have had a Gerber for 10 plus years and would not go anywhere with out it. I have had it replaced 4 or 5 times never a problem. Some times they replace it right on the spot other times they send it in. I just purchased my first replacement because i dont think they will warranty me dropping it down a ice hole at Lake of the Woods.

I have a bunch of them over the years.

Honestly never use them, I will pack them up in my hiking pack, but when I need a knife I reach for my Gator II.

The mutitools usually are a big compromise. My Gerber EVO probably has the best pliers, but my original Leatherman SuperTool probably has the sharpest blade.

But I probably use my Leatherman knife the most, it is similar to the current Crater C33T. Knife, Bottle opener and phillips screwdriver is all I need 90% of the time or more.

Seat, table, shelf, fish carrier, rod and tackle storage, flasher protection, snow scoop, hole sleeve, minnow container, project base, "loo", and thousands of other uses that don't present themselves until they happen. grin

I always have a multi-tool in my pocket and prefer the leatherman. I've they stand behind the warranty and to me they have the best pliers on the market. The thing I don't like about the gerber is when the pliers is closed there is no space between the handles like a regular pliers. There is a reason they are the most popular among people who "work" for a living.

I still have old original as well, and I like it very much. Only thing is the handle when using as a pliers is not as comfortable, as it is "open". I think most now have the smooth rounded side out for comfort. I also have a Buck Tool, not even sure it has a model # or name, it is so old. I like it very much as well. Have some off-brand models that were chotchkeys and they just don't stack up to the real ones, though I like to keep them in blind bag because they can come in handy with all the stoopid little attachments, etc. But not good for real work. You can get anything done with a Leatherman and a hammer (rock) wink

I also have a bunch laying around various areas. I used to carry a LM Wave until that went into the drink. For the last 6-7 years I have been carrying a LM Fuse. As far as what I use it for, the only difference between the Fuse and the Wave was the saw blade and the file (I used neither very frequently). The Fuse is nice. Good blade, good pliers, scissors works well, screwdrivers are screwdrivers, and the the can opener doubles as a bottle opener if you're careful.

I like the wave for the file. The fine file works great to touch up hooks and I have even used the coarse side to touch up my prop edges. I like the scissors as well, but it is a bit bulky to carry around all day.
