harvey lee
Seem's Seattle is getting some breaks from the refs. Harbaugh is going to blow up soon with some of these calls. The roughing the kicker call should have left SF will the ball at the end of the 3 rd period.
PurpleFloyd
Yeah, you can tell who the league front office wanted in the big dance
harvey lee
I hate it when refs figure into the final results. Oh well, that's pro sports and Vegas. Seems another questionable fumble call near the end zone. Way too many iffy calls for a championship game

CaptainMusky
Aren't these the same group of officials that had the debacle in Seattle against green bay? Terrible calls. I hate harbaugh but his team is totally getting jobbed.
fishersofmen
I agree some terrible calls but Kaepernick has gotten sloppy with the ball in this game.

I hate harbaugh but his team is totally getting jobbed. They were replacement refs in that game.None of these missed calls had a real impact on the game, except for the running into the kicker penalty but that is a penalty that can be missed pretty easily. How about the refs missing the push off call on almost every throw to Anquan Boldin. aanderud
None of these missed calls had a real impact on the game, except for the running into the kicker penalty but that is a penalty that can be missed pretty easily. How can that be missed "pretty easily"? Isn't there a backjudge or umpire or someone basically dedicated to the backfield on the punt? They obviously saw the hit (called the 5 yard variant of the penalty), just weren't paying attention to which foot was hit, or were not aware of the rule....neither is really an acceptable excuse. creepworm
By pretty easy I meant you see that penalty called wrong quite often.
harvey lee
Guy I know is a very big bookie who is into the football odds. I have over the years alway bet with him on college games but he would never take a dollar from me on the pro football spread. I asked him why and he said the spread is fixed. I know, bunch of baloney but over the past 30 years he always allowed me to only place bets on the spread in college games. Looks like the fix was in on this game. I agree. What's the follow-up on situation like this for the refs? Are there any consequences if they blow a call?
LMITOUT
From what I understand the referee crews are scored and those crews that have the highest scores get to do the more important games (playoffs/Super Bowl). The crew doing the game today is actually a pretty good crew (hence the reason they were doing the Championship game today). When you watch that play at the goal line in real time where the dude broke his leg, it happened fairly quickly and then the players were pig-piling shortly after. It was hard to tell what happened other than it was possibly a fumble the way players were reacting. I have a tough time pinning that one on the refs. CaptainMusky
As I understand it LMT if they rule a fumble on the play who recovers it is not reviewable. If they did not rule a fumble then harbaugh has every right to be [PoorWordUsage]. Otherwise he is hosed.
LMITOUT
Yeah, that's what I got out of it as well. I'm just pointing out that they were making a big deal of it on TV when the guy is laying there with the ball firmly tucked away but it was a still frame or hyper slo-mo. In real time it was a flash before the pile was on him.
zepman
It should be a reviewable play. It was an awesome play...probably ripped out 3 ligaments in his knee and still had controll of the ball after he stripped it out on the goal line. Given the circumstances, probably one of the best defensive plays I've ever seen. The missed call on the punter is NOT frequently blown...it's one of the easiest calls a ref has to make. You run into his plant foot/leg it's an automatic 15...period.
CaptainMusky
Yeah they totally blew the punter call and they need to rethink the review ability of possession. The refs will just say "ruled a fumble" on the field as their way out.
lawdog
They didn't have the best day, but these are some of the best officials anywhere. You know how high you have to grade out to work a conference championship or superbowl? The high school league is always short officials, you all are welcome to sign up and given how awesome you must be I'm sure you'll move right through High school, small college, big time college and into the NFL in no time to replace these bums! I can get you all the info you need to get started since I've been doing it for years myself.

Snag
Officiating wasn't great, but instant replay, where you can't replay for whaterver reason when it was an obvious fumble and recovery is lame. Why even have it.
