Rick G
Looks like Justin will be reuniting with Cuddy out in Colorado for the next two years. I think he will do well in that hitter friendly park He will be a good replacement for Todd Helton until they can find somebody younger. I wish Justin the best of luck! mainbutter
I might move to Denver next year, and this news makes me smile a little more at that prospect.
blue_healer_guy
that contract wasnt out of line. i wonder if the twins offered a dh role to him? Cuz we all know whose playing first. He was a good player for us, can u imagine if he squares one up in that air?
mrklean
how much did he sign for?
Rick G
I think it was like 13 mil. and change over two years.
fishersofmen
Who would possibly give him that kind of money? I like the guy but he has absolutely nothing left in the tank. What a terrible signing by Colorado.
Musky Buck
6.5 a year...Mauer 23 million a year. Lets make that trade and get Justin back. We'd get the better 1st baseman that way. I don't think Mauer seems comfortable at first reason he is still barking he wants to catch so he doesn't look stupid out there and we can blame the management for switching him to first. mrklean
Thin air should help with some pop but i still think thats a bit steep, might be nice for him to be back with Cudy

Mauer is a good enough athlete that he'll figure out first base in no time. Remember Mornie when he first came up? Brutal.
B. Amish
mauer will win gold gloves at first.
Musky Buck
Have another drink Amish. He wont qualify most years with concussions and leg weakness. Gold gloves lol that is funny.
Musky Buck
He isn't even in the same league defensively as Mark Texiera, Mauer looked terrible at first what little he's played there. It's been Mauers club now and lately and he's softer than Charmin. I heard we're trying to sign someone who's good in the clubhouse, what does that say about our captain. Hester
I think Morneau was a great signing for Colorado. Look what Cuddy did out there. Colorado has not signed a lot of big named bats in the past, Cuddy worked great and I'm sure Morneau will too.
blue_healer_guy
great sign for rockies. 6.5 a yr for 2 yrs vs 8.25 for aj with boston. aj not a great catcher and i would take justin bat over his big time. steal.
Hoyt4
Good for JustinMauer will be just fine at first. Get a full year in at 1st and not just a few times here and there.
eyebenband
Why does everybody seem to dislike Mauer...if the Twinsdid let him go, all I would hear is..."see, typical Twins, letting another one get away."
DonBo
Why does everybody seem to dislike Mauer... I don't think anyone dislikes him, he just hasn't ever really lived up to the 28 mill they're paying him. We had higher expectations. Rick G
Why do you think he hasn't lived up to expectations? maybe it's just me, but for that much cash I think the guy should play at least 150 games a year.
greebs
I think the expectations were for him to play more games and have similar power numbers he had the season before the big contract. Singles and walks are nice but not really enough from a guy making that's much $.
