Get the flasher.

With the flasher you can drill a hole, drop the ducer, and see whats going on instantly.

With a camera you drill a whole, lower the camera all the way down to the bottom, spin it around, see nothing, pull up the camera all the way back to the top, and move on.

The camera is a fun novelty but it cant compare to a flasher.

I have a Vexilar FL18 and a Marcum Camera. I have to agree with those that say the flasher is more useful. With it you know what you have and where it is. I look at the camera as more of a toy. Assuming you have clear water and good light it lets you see what is in about 150 degree field of view. However it is very difficult to tell how close or how far away it is, or how big the fish are. I have fun with mine when I fish White Bear with the clear water but it is almost useless on Bald Eagle unless the fish are only a few feet from the camera.
