OnAFly
Coyle's shootout move was just filthy. Harding is on the plane to St Louis. Injury must not be that bad. Granlund upper body sounds scary though. That 2nd line is better with him on it.
Bear55
Gotta love a shorty to tie it on the road with 5 minutes left! Talk about a crowd silencer. Great move by coyle too!
10,000 Casts
Harding gets hurt in warm ups.. again! Is this the 2nd or 3rd time in his career that the warm up butterfly has sidelined him? We better get another goalie and fast whether it be a veteran rental or Backstoms replacement. Suter was an offensive beast the last 10 mins! He needs to push the puck like that more often. Bryce
Watching espn at the club this morning and they reported that he stepped on a puck to cause the injury. Flukish.
OnAFly
What did we do to anger the hockey gods? Hopefully Backs is really good to go and they are just being cautious with Hards. If healthy, they are a good tandem...if.Just saw Harding is back in MN to see docs. Might join the team back in STL tomorrow. That doesn't sound good. schmitty3
"Josh Harding apparently had some kind of leg spasms. Didn't happen from stepping on puck. So sounds like it's a day-to-day thing #mnwild"
RK
Man is this a quintessential MN sports team or what? On a roll, heading into some huge games and the injury bug starts gnawing away at them all of a sudden. It's unreal.I missed most of the Jets game because my daughter played. Did get to see the shootout since it was on the TV in the lobby at the arena. Delayed the start of the third period by a couple minutes because the refs were watching the SO through the window, which was pretty comical.Sounds like Backstrom was very very good in a tough situation. Let's hope he can keep that up if Harding misses any amount of time. Hopefully he can at least back up, or our roster's a mess all of a sudden. Going to be very interesting to see where the Wild are in a week's time. They haven't been great lately - giving up a lot of shots and getting away from their structured game for long stretches. They can get away with it against teams like the Jets and Senators but they'll get killed by the Blues or Colorado if they take a period off. With the lines scrambled because of injuries and their goalie situation totally up in the air will be a real test of how they handle adversity. I do have more hope this year than in years past just because of our depth. In the past we just didn't have guys on the roster who could move up and down the lines and be effective. I think the ability to roll 4 lines will be huge coming up, and the 3rd line will have to be excellent against other teams' top lines the next few games. fishnowworknever
Well here come the Blues, one of the teams that are willing to take you to the boards/ice hard. We'll see how our guys stand up against them. I have a feeling they are going to come at us hard, most teams, especially the ones in our conference, know we're a weak team when it comes to physical play. Yeah we can throw some guys around but when you play a team like the Blues with their lineup...watch out!I'm not saying we need to be dropping gloves or starting a fight at a face off...but we need to respond to the big hits and let them know that we can fight back as well. Bring it on...hopefully they take stupid penalties trying to play the physical game and we capitalize on the Power Play. Should be a good test of Yeo's "play our game and don't get caught up in the chippy stuff" philosophy. Bottom Line is...with our lineup we have no other options than to play a speed, puck possession game.....I like our chances. In my observations so far this year the refs are calling more penalties than they are "letting stuff go"...and that favors our style. CaptainMusky
Ottawa was pretty physical and while we didn't blow they out we were able to leave with a road win. I'm more worried about goal tending health than physical play right now.
10,000 Casts
anyone know Granlunds status? It sounds like Rupp will be back tonight so that will help with the rough stuff. If Reaves wants a partner, he'll either have to face Konopka or a much bigger opponent in Rupp. I think the Wild will match up better than you might think tonight. Bear55
Think Granlund is out tonight, hope its not serious. He wasn't at the morning skate, maybe precautionary.
fishing tech
Granlund upper body injury. Concussion? Played 1 game after the big hit in Toronto and now out.

Bear55
Actually we looked better the 2nd half of the game. Hope Parise is ok but it might be serious, not good!
10,000 Casts
Anyone else notice that Suter looked weak and you could tell that he was trying to avoid all contact possible? His poke checks weren't very effective.. Also, Heatley's really gotta go. It's time.. Anytime he is on the ice we have to play like we're a man down.. Look where he's standing on the first goal, he's at the top of the slot just watching the play. I wonder what his avg shift time is? It seems like he is out there forever when he's on a shift. And to move him up to the 3rd and then the 2nd line???? No wonder we got killed..
bbfenatic
I agree 10,000....hopefully injuries won't force us to play him more. The kids down in Iowa must not be performing as hoped, they are like 2-9 this year. If Parise is out long this is gonna make it very tough to stay in the hunt, then add in Granlund and the goalie problem and it is discouraging. All the sudden we are not as deep as we had hoped but I'd still like them to bring up the top performers from below to replace stiffs like Heatley and give them a sniff of what could be. As far as Suter...he's gotta be battle worn already with all that ice time and very little time to recover from bumps and bruises.
schmitty3
I swear Heatley spends more time falling over and trying to get up then actually on his skates. I have never seen a guy just fall over from nothing so much before.

I have never seen a guy just fall over from nothing so much before. No doubt...seems to have no leg strength, skates too upright with skates together, not much upper body muscle/strength, stands still way too much, etc etc....makes me wonder how he was so successful in the past...the game has passed him by for sure. OnAFly
Suter got banged up the other night, his injury could be lingering. We need Granny back.We need Parise on that top line.We need Backs to stop giving up juicy rebounds to teams who aren't terrible. Yes, Heatley sucks, but we're stuck with him this year, barring injury.
BartmanMN
What is the time table for Ballard? Yes, we need Granny back.
