Where to buy left-handed 12 gauge??

Recommended Posts

I have looked several places and I am really having trouble finding one. I am not very big into guns so I didnt know they would be that hard to find. Looking for Remmington 870 pump or something similar. Anyone have any suggestions where to look??

It is for my nephews B-day. Dont want to spend over $400.

A few years ago I bought my left handed 870 at Scheel's.

I got one there also.

I never use it though. maybe one pheasant hunt and 2 turkey hunts. Where are you located in mn? I'd sell it to you if your close or can't find one.

Same as other lefties, I shoot several right handed 870s and mossberg shotguns with no negative impacts related to the safety switch or shell ejection. For than matter I also shoot a browning pump rifle 30.06, marlin .30.30, a bolt CZ .22, a Nylon 66 .22, and a browning A bolt. 308; all righty. I would not worry about it, plus there is probably more of an upside when it comes time for him to pass the gun on, or sell if he wanted to.

Shooting a right handed shotgun left handed is more than the safety and the eject. It changes your line of sight.

The stock has a rake to it. The rake pushes the barrel farther away from your line of sight when used backwards. You will probably shoot better when using the correct stock (left/right).

I'm confused... What's a rake on a shotgun?

Outside of the which way the shells eject from the reciever and the direction to push the safeties, all my shotguns look symmetrical. My supernova does have a non symmetrical butt pad on it though. Of course if hold them up left handed I can't aim for carp, but I'm right eye dominant.

Also does, talk know there is a hunting forum?

I'm left handed and grew up with an 870, then an 1100, then my 1187 which I still currently have. I guess I dont even notice shells ejecting, never have. Dont have any problems getting a deer each year, or doing well on an occaisonal bird hunt. I guess I just got use to it. But personally, if my daughter grows up to shoot left handed, she will have a left handed model.

The few that I have checked have the stock angled to the right (right handed) and to the left for left handed shooters. The stock on my 1100 angles to the right.

I'll have to double check my guns. I don't think there is an angle to them though. If there is it must not even be noticeable.

It really doesn't matter as you sight in scoped rifles and just get used to open sights and shotguns to the point that the weapon is more like an extension of the body and the shot unconscious, like riding a bike or any other automatic behavior.

The most important thing for me regarding gun fit, is how it shoulders. You want the weapon to come up with your line of sight looking straight down the entire barrel, not looking over it so you have to put your head down to shoot accurately.

The "rake" is actually referred to as cast. I am left handed, and always wanted a Beretta 686 ultralight for grouse hunting. I finally found one for sale and found it had a lot of cast; when I shouldered it righthanded I was looking right down the barrel, when i shouldered it left handed, no way.

MY granddaughter is left handed and that's exactly what I purchased for her, I agree with you JosMN.

Yes, Browning makes a BPS which is a bottom eject and would work great for a leftie or rightie. Very nice shotgun.

Trouble is, I highly doubt one could find one for under $400, maybe used.

JUst not a ton of options when one looks for a left handed gun. They are out there but few and far between. Trying to find a Left handed youth model was an even larger task, that's why I ended up with the BPS but she likes the gun very well and shoots it well.

If you were willing or could spend a few more bucks Buck, check out the pump Browning BPS. Sweet gun and well built. You won't go wrong with an 870 either.

I have a feeling you wqill be his or her favorite uncle with this gift.

I bought my left handed 870 pump from Fleet Farm back in 02 I think and they had them in stock...I still have it and prefer to shoot with my left handed gun over the inherited right handed shotguns even though they are of better quality
