This addition to the Vexilar family will be the new flagship product for Vexilar and will be featured on two of their successful ice fishing packages, the Pro Pack and the Ultra Pack.

The features found in the FLX-28 read like the wish list of avid Ice Anglers starting with digital depth, Auto Range, Two zoom zones, FIVE color palettes to select from for maximum visibility, five foot depth range adjustments starting at 10 feet, Maximum range of 300, Day and Night display brightness settings, Low power options for fishing in super shallow water, a unique Weed Mode for better performance while fishing in weeds. And to top it all off, the unit even has its own Demo mode so you can show non-Vexilar fans how the system works with a lifelike fish catching simulation to watch.

“What most people will not see with the FLX-28 is the advanced technology that has gone into the making of this system,” stated Corey Studer, Vexilar Pro Staff Manager. “Vexilar has been working for years to perfect a brushless data transfer system which is the heart of what customers will be seeing in many future Vexilar sonar systems in the years to come. The new data transfer system opens flasher technology to do so much more than just show depth. For sure this will continue Vexilar’s dominance as the world’s first and best ice fishing sonar systems.

Though I see this as a vast improvement over what Vexilar currently offers, what "bar" is being raised with this? Aside from this "brushless data transfer system" (whatever that means) there is nothing new here and dont even meet what other products currently offer with infinite zoom (only two zoom ranges?) being one example.

I do like the display though and keeping the look of their predecessors will make it easier for people to make the leap I am sure.

I was looking at the FLx28 at Cabelas on Saturday and noticed the Transducer now has some other type of material on the bottom that feels really thin. You can really feel the pulsing from the crystal.

Is this material new to the transducer's this year? If not I was wondering how well it held up since it did not seem as tough as the old transducers.

You were prob just looking at the Pro-View Ducer. No different than past years.

I never like to be the first with new products, especially ones that contain computer software, let someone else work the bugs out.

I sold my showdown and pick one of these bad boys up. I hope it's like other vexilar products where they just plain work.

With the showdown, It only took three updates, 4yrs and about $100 extra dollars to get a showdown to work half arse. If I have any problems with the FLX 28, I'm selling the thing right away. Nothing is worse then having something that doesn't preform the way it should. With that in mind I'm really excited about the weed mode, and banking that vexilar did the homework before they released it to the public.

I just pulled out and dusted my 4year old FLX28 out of the closet to get it ready for the ice season.

Fisherman Andy,

Instead of bashing or making fun of products you don't even know about, why not do a side by side comparison on the ice and make your comments after that? If you like one product or another, great! Like I had mentioned in another topic, I'm more than happy to show you the differences of the Vexilar line up any where on the ice. If you'd like to bring a Humminbird, Marcum or Lowrance along to compare, that's fine too. Let me know where or when you'd like to do some live comparisons in the REAL world.

Enjoy the season.

To me it is Vexilar's version of the ice 55. Not much new here just the different looking FL 22. don't get me wrong Vexilar builds one heck of a reliable unit. But Nothing State of The Art here.

NO NO NO ITS REVOLUTIONARY
