MN the birds should be better off then some other states that start this month. It's sure fun to shoot one in the snow. I've taken a few in the snow in MN and NE big old black ball in the white snow very hard to hide. grin

And as Don said you can track them better if you need to find a hit bird.

Turkeys in my area are hurting a little, they are showing up at my bird feeder like never before meaning it's still dark in the mornings and they're there and they are not running away when I walk out the door, they are finding very little to eat right now, they scratch away and hit a layer of ice, they'll be ok no doubt, but have never seen this kind of behavior from them ever. Have 10 toms in a bunch every day, 5 are seriously old old old birds, some the spurs seem to be nearly 2" I kid you not, beards just dragging through the snow. The tom I got last year had 1 1/4 spurs and at least 2 of them are certainly longer than that, they are even flying up onto the bird feeder in our window and knocking it down so I get a good view from 2 feet away, crazy, thankfully the worst of the weather is over, just some cold nights to sift through.
