If you don't mind, if possible I'm going to try to meet up with you guys in the morning. I want to get at least one more ride this year. Plans are still tentative for now but it looks do-able, but then if I am not there when its time to leave, don't wait.

How late are you planning to ride?

It would be good to meet you. We're going to meet around 8:30am as stated in posts above and ride as long as everyone can. If others have to drop out thats fine. It looks like the trails have some loops people can loop back on if their time is up. I think leaving it open ended helps anyone that wants to ride as long as they want. I'm planing on running until dark at least and then see how it goes from there since I have no where to be on Sunday other then missing Church or fishing! Plus who knows if this will be the last good ride of the year! wink

I will PM you my cell # and you can call if you are coming but we will be hitting the trail around 9 and I wont here my cell much after that or until I check it on a stop. Plan to be in Lawler around noon for lunch. Other than that we are going to ride at least till dark or ?. A guy might have to head farther north after this weekend to ride.

Have fun guys! Sounds like a good ride to join. Like most of my plans lately, I'm in, then out, then oh maybe. Too many outside forces!

My wife renewed my hall pass this weekend only if I can run an errand going further north than Mille Lacs and that'll get me too close magnetically to Ely to pass up laker fishing.

Be safe.

Had a great trip with Leech, Walleyehooker and MacGyver, we covered approximately 115 miles. We saw several deer, turkeys and one very large big bad wolf, Mac did you get any good video of the wolf?

Next time we'll have to do this up near Walker or Brainerd.

As you can read by me posting now we didn't keep runing until dark as bragged about! Ha. It was getting a little to hot by the time we got back to Malmo so we packed it in. Yes it was a fun ride and the trails were pretty darn good. It was nice riding with you guys Walleyehooker, Meat-Run and Macgyver. Mac, thanks for being the tour guide. One word of advise. Don't let the guy with the newest sled-lead! tired

The old 550 fan did ok keeping up at the back of the pack but was no match for a 10 year newer class Liq! Was a little bumbed that the Turkey Fed guys took over the whole Jackson Hole bar for their party and we had a limited menu to pick from. Sloppy Joes or go hungry! But they did setup a nice little outdoor seating for us around a fire, so that was pretty darn nice of them! smile

All and all a very good day and I did find out that you can actually see "some" Deer and Turkeys at 60MPH! grin

Here's a few picks, we did come across one sled that didn't make a turn and he looked air born all the way in to the deadfall. We think he must have been ok but his buddies may have needed to take him to the Doc? eek The last pic is of the Shackmallhall we seen out on the trail. If some one on this forum owns that we are all very jealous! grin

Leech thanks for posting pictures, my camera phone was turning pictures again...grrr. Looks like a new snow flap will be need by next season. HA. Hope Mac's GoPro got video of that wolf we saw, that thing was HUGE.

Glad you and WalleyeHooker made it back safely, did notice the trails closer to Malmo were eroding quickly, not sure if they'll take the sun and heat all next week.

Had a great time riding with you guys! Lots of wildlife, great weather and nice trails! It was good to finally put faces to the names!

Sorry I got a little carried away with learning the capabilities of my new ride. After 13000 plus miles on my last one I feel like I'm learning how to ride all over again.

I did manage to get a short clip of the wolf but it looks like he is further away than he really was and I had the camera adjusted a bit low.

His tag line should've been a clue. grin

Go Pro's are cool and I wish I had one. Thanks for posting the vid. It looked like that part of the trail was in great condition too.

I didn't make Ely, snowmobiling or fishing at all today but I did spend the entire day with my wife. No hall pass was redeemed but the day was well spent taking care of things that needed to be done. Guess she owes me one... wink

the good ol deer stand in palisade, I rode by there on friday, nice trail.

I also seen many deer, probally because of the snow depth keeps them on roads and trails, also seen a couple of turkeys.

Sure was a great day for a ride and was nice meeting you guys. Thanks Mac for leading as you new the trails better than I do up there. Temps were perfect in the morning and the trails were in pretty good shape and very little traffic. By the time Leech and I got back to Malmo traffic was increasing and trails were getting soft and showing some wear so we decided to load up and head back. Not sure how long this winter will last but maybe sometime we could get a snowmobile get together and go for a ride up north like Duluth,Brainerd or Ely etc. Either start from somewhere and ride and spend a night and come back or go somewhere and spend a night and ride a day and a half and come back. Might be tough to make that happen this year with Easter next weekend but we could always plan for next year.
