The Bible

Watched the episode last nite with my son. Typical whitewashed production, meaning that the characters are portrayed as caucasion when clearly at that time, they would have been dark skinned, black haired, brown eyed people. Interesting theatrical liberties taken with the dialogue also.

I for one would definitely not want to have your atheist experience ...too much gnashing of teeth. Wouldn't be any fun to pick on Islam either...somebody might come looking for you.

Well, the show is a bit cheesy. It would be much more fun to see it as it really happened...or much more scary depending on what side of the eternal fence your on. One thing I did not know tho...somebody survived Jericho. Rahab and her family were saved as promised (book of Joshua)

Alot of folks criticize athiests for bashing christians relentlessly while giving other religions a pass. I think it is fair criticism, particularly among the left. Lefties tend to clobber christians while at the same time embracing other, often more harmful beliefs in the name of inclusion or cultural sensitivity.

Some of this is just blatant hypocricy and some of it is based on real and legitimate fear. For me, I tend to take on christianity more often than other religions simply because christians impact my life in a more direct way than most others.

This maybe the most honest and truthful post stated on this whole thread! wink

I wouldn't say I embrace any sort of mumbo jumbo, but when you look at it as equally unbelievable mumbo jumbo it might be easier to treat it as equally unbelievable mumbo jumbo.

just watched the 3rd one. I have enjoyed them all. I enjoy seeing how the blessed keep screwing up. Just like me in my daily life. Only one thing matters in life. Forgiven or not forgiven. smile My .02 and I'm stickin to it.

Its amazing how many times the Israelites screwed up and got punished..even after seeing all the miracles.

I got baptized in the Jordan River in Israel and it doesn't look like that cesspool they showed last night..or was that the Sea of Galilee yuk! If I ever make it back to Israel, I'm bringing a fishing rod...fish all over and nobody fishing!

They're not including some of the actual wording from the Bible itself and skipping over quite a bit too...oh well.

I hope I never get put in John the Baptist's position...or any of the disciples either for that matter. ..ouch! Could I deal with it.

So I was interested in checking out this show... Strictly entertainment wise... Was force fed the carp when I was a kid... caught the recap at the beginning... watched about 5min and couldn't stand any more of the horrible acting and special effects of this show... had to change the channel... Should've been on SyFy network with how low budget looking it was

I had higher expectations (but) its a production. Satan looks like he just came out of star wars.. but well done. I wonder what he really looks like.

And I seriously doubt Daniel was the wussy they made him up to be.

Sometimes it's not the teacher, but the student.

1 Corinthians 13:11

When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways.

Now things may make more sense to people than when they were forced to learn it when young and they did not or could not understand what it all ment at the time.

too bad so many were force fed this carp.. it's some pretty important carp.

not force fed, just not brainwashed and made an educated decision based on what is fact in science and proven...not some folklore written in primitive times when civilization didn't have the technology we have today and was uneducated in science and thus didn't understand carp...

nothing important about a book filled with folklore & snake oil...

If children were somehow sheltered from religion until their teens, you'd never be able to sell them. 2c

In my experience, the younglings got the rulers and yardsticks on the

knuckles. When we were teens we moved up to the Priest and got HIS

knuckles on yer head! crylaugh Put the whole mess in the rear view

mirror nearly 50 years ago,,,Nuns and Priests still give me the creeps.

It is easily searched. When verses tell slaves how to act and how masters should treat their slaves (including new testament) that is condoning slavery.

I don't see how anyone can use a book that condones slavery as the basis for moral beliefs.

It even talks about selling your daughters:

When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again. But he is not allowed to sell her to foreigners, since he is the one who broke the contract with her. And if the slave girl's owner arranges for her to marry his son, he may no longer treat her as a slave girl, but he must treat her as his daughter. If he himself marries her and then takes another wife, he may not reduce her food or clothing or fail to sleep with her as his wife. If he fails in any of these three ways, she may leave as a free woman without making any payment. (Exodus 21:7-11 NLT)
