50inchpig
50", drop me a line this summer, I've been dieing to hit some flats but my boat is too pretty to make it a habit. Bring some of those home brews and you got a deal!

rushing
There just isn't a single valid reason not to close it. Any way you try to justify the non closing of the season sounds shady. Either promoting the molestation of hibernating fish or to allow the occasional snagging of a flat. Flatheads do not actively feed during winter which means if you are in possession of a flathead the odds are it was snagged. Proving someone snagged a fish is almost impossible unless directly caught doing it. Ok so lets just enforce the current no snagging rules. Well there isn't enough enforcement officers to accomplish that. So lets raise the fishing license fee to pay for more CO's or we can just try to make the current CO's job a tiny bit easier with just closing the season. TruthWalleyes
In the summer you'd have a straight hook and that rod wouldn't do the job. That's sad. doesn't take long to wreck a flathead population and that guy is doing one heck of a job...day 5.
