After years of bow hunting and passing on a lot of OK deer. I pulled out the rifle. I just wanted to show the first buck I ever shot. Could have had 100 but let many walk and got busted on a couple. He grossed 180 and that was helped by his 26" inside spread. I am on cloud 9 right now.

Thanks guys. It was a great hunt. I bought the non resident state wide buck $521 because I wanted a mule deer and that tag is for either or. Just a non resident WT was $209. They are over the counter until they reached their quota which they did then you can buy a statewide WT tag for $521 if you wanted to shoot a second one.

I was lucky enough to bag both. My muley was a 5x5 but not as big as I thought he was. While glassing him he was outside the ears which is what we where looking for but once I got him both of his ears where tore up. His left one was missing the tip and his right was missing over a 3rd of his ear.He would have been a really nice deer in a year or two. I learned a lot this trip field judging muley's. The genetics in that area seemed to be taller vs wide.

The whitetails are really pushing into the mule deer habitat in the area that we were in. We shot two back in the sand hills one bedded down in a draw under a cedar and one cruising for does.
