Awesome fish story on Mille Lacs

Nice one but look in the muskie forum for a true giant....

Yes, though I never said it was the biggest, but a great STORY. (To tell the grandkids, around the campfire, at deercamp, in the boat, etc.) wink

I've had a pike or muskie grab a smallmouth bass, panfish, or walleye lots of times...but I've never actually gotten the fish in the boat. How a pike/muskie swallows a fish that big and gets the hook caught in its mouth without cutting the line is a mystery to me!

Fishing the 'sippi as much as I do I get a couple/ few a year that steal bass, crappies and walleyes from me smile I think I have only landed maybe one or two in all those times ,but have worked them to the boat or shor quite a few times before they spit the fish or cut the line.

You gotta love it. A couple of my favorite people...WalleyeDan and Al Lindner.

A nice 19" smallie and wham...a 53", 45lb muskie swallows it whole.

Couldn't have happened to a couple nicer guys.

What do you think bill dance would have done in that situation laughlaugh
Probably had some 10 foot rod that folded in half as he fought the fish. All the while you could here the taught line whistling in the wind.

At the end I am sure he would have fallen out of the boat attempting to hand land it.

I really liked the "bloopers" episode I saw once where he was on the dock and his buddy was in the jonboat. He was turning around to swing the battery in the boat and the guy moved the boat and he tumbled right into the water. Setup yes, but still hilarious.
