My great uncle told me a story that his dad, my great grandpa caught and ate a 9.5 pound bass he caught out of north twin lake in mahnomen county back in the 30's lol.... he said they weighed it. I always loved hearing that story.

As far as this story goes, could be another one of those internet tales, we will see

More like Lake Biwa in Japan (World Record) than Vermillion, MN.

The IGFA announced its decision today. The 22 pound, 4.97 ounce largemouth caught in Japan by Manabu Kurita will be shown as a tie. George Perry's bass that held the record for over 75 years will be considered a tie although it weighed 22 pounds, 4 ounces. The IGFA requires a new record be beat by two ounces to be considered as breaking the old record.

0 to none. They don't get that big here - period. MN state record is 8lbs 15oz, that bass is double that.

If you posted this on the spearing forum, they'd tell you otherwise. Never met a spearfisherman thst didn't regularly see 10lb+ bass each winter.

spearers may say they saw a 10lb bass but that is in the water and everything looks bigger in the water and until it is caught weighed verified it is all just a "fish tale"...good luck

Lets say that fish weighs 20lbs, how much does that dude weigh? 40lbs!? That fish certainly breaks the record for 'weight of angler' to 'weight of fish' ratio.
