who here makes their own dekes? I've seen pics of a few of the homemade dekes. Just wondering who makes or uses their own design. I made a few 8-10 years ago, only ones I've ever had, work good. I just dont have the knack to paint, at all.

I made some this year for the first time, was fun for sure by no means am I good compared to a lot of guys but it was something to try glad I started and I already have some ideas on ones to make in the future. My gf does the painting I'm no good at it.

I started making my own about 10 years ago. I finally make them well enough that I have started selling them. It a relaxing hobby. But it takes up alot of time.

I know a old guy who used to spear a lot and he said you young guys buy a lot of decoys, when all you need is a prince albert can tied to a string. He always had fish. He claimed a pike is just curious and will come to anything to check it out.

Better yet, a gallon jar with a cover lowered down a hole, on a string a dozen shiners in it.

Looks like there is no need to get any decoys to start out.

Then again, I could skin mount a nicer perch and weigh it and use that.
