Minnetonka Buck

I've read all the stories, seen the videos, and the pictures of the Excelsior buck. The Minnetonka buck isn't a contender really, but still pretty cool to see this big buck in the same area!

This buck resides by hwy 494 and 7. This is in my bosses back yard. He said the bucks have been coming there for a while now. Make you wonder how they can live in such a small wooded area and get anywhere with out crossing a major highway and getting clipped.

Gonna be pretty neat to see the pictures keep coming in!

Boy that sure is an OLD deer. Almost old to the point he may be on his way back down.

That buck has a huge body! Gets fat eating flowers all summer and raiding bird feeders all winter!

he's smart, he lets us walk 3 miles in from the nearest road through a swamp. He just chills in some rich guy's back yard and looks at housewifes.

Its amazing what the metro holds for bucks. I used to be a delivery driver and I saw some huge bucks around, the 2 biggest being in Theodre Werth Parkway just north of 394 and west of 100. Saw them a few times together and they each were 165+ plus...

In that same general area on my way home from rifle season a few years ago I saw a magnificent double drop tine 10-12 pt mature buck in one of my neighbors yards. He just stopped and looked at me daring me to try to take his doe away. At 30 yards away it was a pretty sight.

i worked a paper route in shoreview for a little while and saw 2 drop tine bucks. only 2 i've ever seen. one on the right side, one on the left. both were around 150"+/-, not real good at judging antler size

Just wondering what a good antler score is? Havent thought or known to much about it until last year. Had a score of 163. Would of went 170 if one antler hadn't been broke.

Do you think that Minnetonka buck scores 140? Just wondering because I would think that's right about what he would score but could be way off!

Looking at the photos of the rack, I would say the larger buck is a 125 class. It maybe has an inside spead of 19 to 21inch. Doing taxidermy I have seen several deer, most ears are 5 to 6.75"long. with the same distance bewteen the ears/ use that as a sample to measure racks.

There are lots of deer in Minnetonka. About 18 years ago I used to live on Minnehaha creek (on Burwell Drive) in Minnetonka. The deer would come down the creek from Big Willow park. Many times we had as many as 7 to 9 deer in our back yard at a time. There were a couple HUGE bucks. It was really fun sitting in the living room watching the deer. My favorite deer was one we nick-named Scruffey; he was a small buck that had the worst hair you ever saw. It went every which way, like a permanent bad hair day.

He looks like a solid 130 to me.

Yeah, funny what's around. I work in the area of Winter Park in Eden Prairie and have seen a 10-pointer jog through our parking lot on a fairly regular basis. Have to fight my way through a flock of turkey to get in the front door pretty often too.
