Before the hardware store in Isanti closed, they carried it. Now that the store has reopened with new owners, I'm not sure but it would be a start. I will stop there on my way home tonight and let you know for sure.

I didn't do anything to my strikemaster when I switched over and I've been running 100:1 for the past 3 years

I have always ran a standard 2 cycle oil in my auger with no issues at all. My old auger is 20 years old and still runs like a dream, have never even had to do a carb kit on it. I am sure amsoil is a great oil and I may even try it just saying have never had a problem with regular 2 cycle.

One question I have is if using a fully synthetic oil is such a drastic improvement over regular 2 cycle why does Strikemaster put in their operating manuals DO NOT USE SYNTHETIC OIL? If it would improve the performance of the augers they sell and make them run better and last longer why the warning?

My Strikemaster manual does not say anything about not using synthetic. It just says not to mix leaner than 50:1...which of course most of the folks using synthetics are.

I also talked to the guy behind the counter at Strikemaster and he said nothing wrong with using synthetic.

87,89,91-2 pump gas all has ethanol mixed in it , which is real hard on filters and carb parts and any rubber hoses . over time it turns to a jelly looking form and gums everything up, and it attracts water that is why it is a good idea to run non-ox as it does NOT have any ethanol in it at all. i run a 100 octane VP brand race fuel in most of my 2 stroke engines little expensive but i don't take anything apart as it evaporates and leaves no residue at all

I have been having good results with the stihl synthetic I run in my saws with my auger starts and runs a lot better.

I use stihl as well. It has fuel stabilizers built in so that's a plus.

If its a brand new auger I'd go with the dealers brand for the warranty sake. Also on the 25:1 ratio for the older Strike Master your could check but I think that was later revised to 40:1. Now with all that said I'e used Amsoil Sabre Pro going on the 4th year mixed at 80:1. The synthetics make it possible. Runs clean with no smoke or oil running out the muffler plus the part I like is I use the same mix for chain saw, lawnboy mower, weedwacker, leafblower etc.. I also use the Amsoil outboard motor oil at 50:1 which is recomennded for it.

I don't have the containers handy so I cannot give the correct names, but the Amsoil used in the outboard Injector system (intended for outboards with oil injection) can also be used as a gas/oil mix, but only at 50:1.

The other, Sabre Pro (?) can be used in an outboard gas/oil mix at 100:1.

I've used Amsoil for years at 100:1 in outboards, chainsaws, weed whackers, ice augers,& leaf blowers without a problem.

Sabe Pro works in any small air cooled engine, augers no mater the brand, chainsaws, weed eaters, snow throwers ect, I run at 80:1 with my mix.

I just got the 100:1 pillow pacs they are 1.5 oz how do you mix to get 80:1. I would like to start useing it in my stihl chainsaw. Also have an older jiffy 25:1 what would you recommend for mix in that.

You only need 1.28 oz of mix to get 100:1, so the "100:1" pillow packs are really about 85:1 (128 oz / 1.5 oz = 85.3). Assuming 0.1 oz of waste in the pillow pack gets you an actual mix ratio of 91:1. That said, mix 0.9 gallons of gas to a pillow pack (1.4 oz usable) to get approximately 80:1.

Have the same auger. Had the same problem. Try choking it and holding the throttle wide open. She'll start on the third pull. Love the thing.

Used Strikemaster oil in mine for the first year, at the recommended ratio. Started spitting oil at me mid-season and wouldn't start. Cleaned the carb etc. thoroughly and switched to a 75:1 ratio. Lasted one season and got gummed up again. Cleaned everything out again. This is the first season with the Sabre at a 100:1 ratio, so I'm hoping that'll solve the problem.

Use amsoil at around 80:1 if it smokes I just add gas to the the next time around. been doing it this way for the past 2-3 years

I have a 3 year old Solo. I'll take your word for it...I must have missed the print. I just looked the manual up on their HSOforum and scanned over it.

I did talk to the guy behind the counter though and he said no problem with synthetic as long as you mix the factory stated mixture ratio...which I think at that point kind of defeats the purpose doesn't it?
