bonus tag question

I shot a doe in a hunters choice area. If I buy a bonus tag and hunt a intensive or managed area I still can only shoot a doe right? No bucks for me this year? Thanks

Incorrect, you can still shoot a buck in an intensive or managed area with the muzzy or bow, assuming you used your rifle tag on the HC doe.

You can only use your main tag once during each season...archery, firearm A or firearm B, and Muzzle. You can go hunt intensive and shoot does with a bonus tag. You can never tag a buck with a bonus tag. So if you've used your main tag on a harvest choice doe in firearms season, you could buy a muzzy license and shoot a doe in an intensive or managed area with your main tag, and bonus tags.

Your done in all lottery and Choice zones this year. You may use bonus tags, or a muzzle license to tag bonus does in management or intensive.

The muzzy or archery tag are still good for a buck in a multiple deer area since the main firearm tag was used on a doe, but if the real question can a buck be shot in a B gun season I'd say the answer's no.

I tried to find this info in the regs book but all I am finding is that you can use this option tag and still hunt in managed or intensive zones but I do not think you could take a buck as you already made a choice with that tag....but that is only cause I have not found info to claim otherwise yet in the regs but I will keep reading...call a CO

Send an email to the DNR, just use the main email listed on their contact page. I've asked a few questions over the years and they have always gotten back to me within a day. That way you are going directly to the source for the info and then you also have a paper trail to show in case a CO questions you about it.

Jameson is correct, truthwalleyes is not.

You have used your firearms tag on a doe. You may only gun hunt with a bonus tag or party hunt and you may only tag deer in a managed or intensive area.

If you are still interested in hunting for a buck, you may do so with a bow or muzzleloader license although you are no longer allowed to hunt in a lottery or HC area.

I agree with Jameson, these regs are very straight forward and have not changed since bonus tags were introduced 4-5yrs ago.

You cant shoot a buck or doe this year now unless party hunting in the hunter choice area. Your main tag is burnt. You can shoot does or a buck in managed or intensive area with bow or muzzy.

Correct Jameson/Powerstroke, I just called the DNR to ask the same thing. I filled my firearms tag in a Hunter's Choice area with a fawn (antlerless). Now I'm going muzzy hunting in a Managed area. They said I can fill my main muzzy tag with a buck (or doe), then could get another doe with a Bonus tag.
