Great prank for a new deer hunter!

Recommended Posts

For those of you with a new deer hunter this year, here is a great prank I pulled on my nephew Brian when he started hunting about 18 years ago. Prior to season opener, I took a Tootsie Roll and made what looked just like deer droppings. Then when my Dad, friend Kevin, and I were in the woods the day before opener, I put the “droppings” in the snow when Brian wasn’t looking. I showed him the droppings and said “This is a secret only serious deer hunters know about. You can tell whether droppings come from a buck or a doe by the taste!”. With that I put one in my mouth, rolled it around and spit it out.

Poor Brian couldn’t believe what he had just seen. I said “ That’s kind of sour tasting, so I think it’s a buck. Doe [PoorWordUsage] would be more sweet tasting”. Both my dad and Kevin tried it and agreed it was a buck. So I told Brian to try it. Several times he got it almost to his mouth, then chickened out. Finally, after several minutes of trying, he said “I can’t eat deer [PoorWordUsage]!” I told him that you don’t eat it, that would be disgusting; you just taste it and spit it out. Well he tried it a few more times and just couldn’t do it. I told him that was OK, it took me 2 years before I was able to do it. At least 2 or 3 times I had to turn my back to Brian because I could't keep a straight face!

We told him Brian couldn’t tell any women or non-deer hunters about it. Because it was a bit gross. We let him go for 2 weeks before we smartened him up. In the mean time he said he told 2 of his buddies and they believed it! To this day, he says he never tried it on his own later with deer [PoorWordUsage]. He has always said he’s going to get even with me for that. Guess I can’t blame him!

Classic joke! I grew up in Maine and you could hunt when you were 10 years old. My dad put some Raisinets (chocolate covered raisins) on the snow when I was watering a tree. When I came back he was rolling it around in his hand and then popped it in his mouth and chewed it up saying he could tell buck or doe by the taste.......I couldn't believe what I had just witnessed. He didn't tell me about the Raisinets until a couple days later when he saw me pick up a real one and put it to my mouth grin

Thanks for bringing back that memory!

I think the person you pull this on has to be somewhat young to believe something like that. Brian was around 16 at the time and had no reason to think that his Grandpa and his Uncle Bruce would EVER lie to him grin Now he knows better. I now tell all my family and grandkids that if they only believe half of what I tell them, they will only be wrong half the time!

BTW, I see the word "p**p" is considered a bad word. Who would have thought?!

We have used the Raisnets on some new kids as well. They are a bit shiny as compared to the real thing but they don't know any better! grin
