Costa Lenses

stick

Question

OK...so I think I've decided to roll the bones on a new pair of Costas. I am wondering if anyone has much to say on the regular lenses and the ones that add $100+ to the price. I assume that the more expensive are better, but will I be wanting for more if I get the more cost effective lenses?

For what it's worth, I take very good care of my glasses. I have a pair of Oakleys that are close to 20 years old for instance.

Thanks in advance.

Good question..i'm in the market for a pair as well. It's my understanding the upgraded lenses are almost impossible to scratch and do a good job repelling water and dust.

I'd like to hear from someone who actually has experience with them though.

They are heavier, my advice is to go in somewhere and put them both on and see what you think. I personally went to k-belas and tried them both and went with the plastic lenses simply because they felt better. I am on my second pair of Fathom's and love them and wouldn't wear another pair of shades. Had the green reflective lense on the first pair and now have the blue. 1st pair was 5 years old when the lense cracked however there was hardly a scratch in them and I wore them probably 300 days a year. Great glasses and great choice to protect your eyes with some quality shades.

Same as Deitz. Both are excellent. Even their poly lenses are better than most others that I have tried over the years. But the 580 are by far the best I've ever used.

As an example vs. cheap lenses, I had a fishing partner drop her wide brimmed fishing hat in the drink in about 6-8 water. It sank to the bottom, but I could see it plain as day. Where as she with wally world specials couldn't even pick out the color contrast. I gave her mine and bang...she points right to it, and we work on getting it back.

I have a pair of 580's also and they are amazing. its like looking at everything in HI-DEF. Go look for them on e bay and u should be able to find them for $50 cheaper than what you would get them for at the costa site. i got mine off of their for quite a bit cheaper.

I have glass lenses in mine but I don't think it is the 580 level. I prefer glass over plastic. Am aware of a place that has occasional deep discounts on Costa glasses (under $100), PM me for details, can't post a link here.

400 glass here...and i just replaced them after breaking my last pair (stupid on my part). I thought about getting 580's, but really was happy with the 400's, so i found a good deal on them and bought another pair. I always stick with glass lenses.

I have a pair of 580's and a plastic pair of costas in my truck and since I got the 580's, I have not worn the other pair. Like others have said, they wont scratch, easy to clean and the view out of them cleans up the "white" light and makes all the colors bluer, greener and more vivid.

Its not that the plastic lenses are cheap, its the quality of vision you get with the glass 580's. Money well spent!!

I have the plastic 580s. I got the plastic ones as I use them for biking and didnt want to worry about shattering them on my face in case I went down.

These were an upgrade to the 400s that I donated to the bottom of the lake.

I have the copper ones, and had the 'same color' in the 400s. The 580s are night and day, and I really recommend going for the 580s if you plan on buying costas.

Why go half way?
