james_walleye
Oh its that easy? Someone mentioned on this thread earlier a qb should average 7.5 yards an attempt. Now your going to tell me its ok for a "great" defense which supposedly has a lockdown corner to give up near 10 yards an attempt? Sounds logical to me...... JosMN
Well, for one, Tramon Williams - basically our #1 lockdown corner was out against the Panthers, Woodson coming in second, did have 2 picks in the game. Which surprises me your not giving him much love, since I see you have a Michigan hat on and he gives a lot of $$ to the school, not to mention a Rose Bowl in 98. Zombo and Neal (who are starters) were also out against Carolina, not giving us the rush we wanted. How many more guys do you want out? I guess we did do it last year fine with 15 guys on IR, and a top 5 defense through out the year. Yes, its that easy. 46 times throwing the ball should get a solid QB (not a McNabb, with zero weapons) 400+ yards. Its a passing league, you should know that since it sounds like your a FFL guru? james_walleye
Hey, if your happy with what you've seen through your green and gold glasses, that's all that matters. They are also my defense and its not like the vikings are going anywhere so I have no problem with their defense doing well. I have paid attention due to this and I have a differing opinion. JosMN
Nature of the beast I guess, us having different opinions. Lets chalk it up, and see how our teams do. No hard feelings here.

Northlander
Break himself right out of the line up and possibly the NFL. This guy cant toss it in the ocean!
archerystud
With this move the Vikes should be in the running for the Andrew Luck pick next year.Still sticking to my prediction on 7/27.
Scott K
I think we will be seeing another QB if we are loosing by half time next week.
reinhard1
they should just release McNabb and fill in his spot with someone they need in any position. what purpose is it anyway to keep starting him? i believe in on the job training. sitting on the sidelines is one thing but actualy playing is the right thing. the vikes are basicly mathamaticly out of the playoffs at 0-4. Frazier should pull the plug on his buddy and think about the future.as an employer would you [anyone] put resources into an employee knowing that person is going to leave your buisness at the end of the year? McNabbs best days are behind him. what exactly is Ponder or Webb supposed to learn from McNabb anyway. how to run for your life because of an average offensive line? throwing short? passing instead of running a couple of more yards for a first down? this isn't all McNabbs fault but he was not the answer in the start of the season and certainly not the future of this team. good luck. LABS4ME
what exactly is Ponder or Webb supposed to learn from McNabb anyway. how to run for your life because of an average offensive line? Boy... that'll help develop a rookie QB that all reports says is far from ready to start. If any QB is going to get his lunch handed to him on a consistant basis, let them beat up on McNabb and address the O-line before you send out the new supposed Franchise QB to get destroyed. Sounds like either way there will not be success at QB and a loss with Ponder would be the same as a loss with McNabb.Good Luck!Ken
reinhard1
ok, then i'm assuming next year they will have a line that would be great for Ponder or Webb to work with after all this experience they have gotten on the sidelines. if not who will be the next "teacher" for the young guns on the bench? i am probably the least knowlegable of this game on these threads, and just an observer from watching the game. i do know one thing, the vikes have no chance to make the playoffs and if serves no purpose haveing a guy out there who will be gone after this season. they could cut him and get another player added on and go from there. good luck. flipper
What is the plan if McNabb decides he doesn't want to play here??? All the serviceable QBs (the ones the Vikings should have been after anyway) are pretty much gone at this point. tick, tock... I think he definitely decided he didn't want to play here. FISHINGURU
Come on guys McFlab is just getting warmed up now! He's been busy working on his footwork and throwing mechanics after 13 seasons!!He's probably about to fake an injury soon.
Jim Almquist
I just had to laugh at his press conference yesterday. I guess he THINKS he is doing OK so far. Throwing the ball at a receivers feet and short hopping when he is wide open to ME is a problem.
greebs
he is doing poorly but funny how last year with the old qb playing poorly, everything was the coaches fault but this year with the old qb playing poorly, it's the old qb's fault. flipper
I will say I was not a big Favre fan last year but one thing about Favre is he always brought excitement to the game. He was a quarterback that went out there and took command. McNabb is uninspired.

zepman
He has been very disappointing...a glimmer of success this pre-season fooled me and alot of others. He's done...has $$$ in the bank and obviously doesn't care about personal or team success anymore.Pro football, like any other business, is about making the right decisions at the right times...Ponder is the right decision now. Frazier, like so many other coaches, has hitched his wagon to McNabb. A bad combination for an organization is a rookie coach and a bad Q-back...we have both. The Vikings NEED Ponder to be THE guy...if he's not, get ready for a "Lions type" decade in Minnesota. Ponder is certainly not a lock to be "THAT" guy.The bottom line is this...is McNabb performing to a level that is greater than what Ponder could give to the Vikes? The answer is obviously NO...so why wait??? McNabb needs to be released...Ponder needs to start playing NOW!!!
PurpleFloyd
Ponder or Webb needed to be playing week one and McNabb needed to get started on the rest of his life but the Vikings organization and too many fans still cannot pass up on taking a flyer on the latest old QB who is past his prime and so once again we are where we are.I am sure in a year or 2 when Manning's neck is totally shot and the Colts have Luck on their roster and no longer need the old guy we will welcome him with open arms and pray he still has a drop of gas in the tank. And with any luck in 15 years we can get in on the Aaron Rodgers sweepstakes.
reinhard1
i realy think this is a numbers game rather than a success plan. play McNabb until the bye because management and coaches feel he would give us a better chance to beat the big bad Bears and Cheeseheads. that may be true, but how do we know. as fans, we see what is in the press and what is on line. i'm just an armchair guy and most on hear know much more about the "game" and the "players".the coaching staff works right with the players and are up close to thier talents and capabilities. i can appreciate that. however, is McNabb's performance lately better or the same as Webbs or Ponders's. guess we dont know that also, they are not starting. so will be seeing them start. i realy dont care who. who will it be next year? McNabb will be gone then if not sooner. say we win a few more. that's a good thing. but will it be a good thing for the team as a whole? another veteran QB to come next year? we dont know that. i know the draft will come next year. draft another young QB? will we know the capabilities of Webb and Ponder by then? guess i'm just a little frustrated as a fan, not as an expert of any kind. good luck. Scott K
We dont draft another QB, no way! We have 2 young talented QB's waiting to get their chance, and prove what they can do now. We draft Oline without a doubt, and then pick up a WR, DB, MLB. I dont expect McNabb will be losing his job until week 12 at the earliest, unless he gets injured, or fakes an injury. This will just have to be a bridging year, to get us to the next level. It can be frustrating as a fan during these times, but all teams have to do it at some point. We as fans just have to face it, the Vikings just are not that good compared to the tough teams in our division. The thing the Viings got going against them the most is not only have they gotten worse in the last few years (I dont think they were actually that good to begin with), but the other teams have gotten much better. Detroit has a very good young team, and they will be on top of the division for many years to come, and Green Bay just isnt rolling over and playing dead for us either, like I want them too Lets face it, the best thing for this team is to lose, and get some very good players on the team from within the draft, then make a strong run in a couple years. It maybe lining up for a SuperBowl in our new stadium in 2015-16??
