RumRiverRat
Been catching bass since April on Pool 4.Fished a lot of different lakes and caught fish with a huge assortment of techniques.Been focusing on Crankbaits for Largemouth more. Want to get better at finding areas to use them.Caught a bunch of Green Bass on Money Frogs on the surface and Chigger Toads just swimming them under the surface in scatter pads. Mostly Males just up cruising the shallows.Hoping the River from Camden Bridge to Ford Dam drops and slows down so I can start pounding the Brown Bass. Ctrl_Alt_Dlt
I am not finding them 4 and 5lbers at all! Been on Beebe, Odowd, Demotreville, Jane, gervais, keller, sunrise....all over. Been only able to manage to get a 3lb 10ounce. Used cranks, senkos, lipless cranks, lipped cranks, jigs, shads etc...a lot! Fished shallow, deep and even the 8-10ft range. I still cannot manage to pull up a 4lber. Any help would be great.
RumRiverRat
You have fished lakes that have put Hawgs in the boat for me.Keep fishing and fish thick nasty cover and docks.
Griggs
Quote: When reading fishing reports online (at least where photos and measurements are not present), it's useful to remember this simple formula: A=S-(S x .25) A= actual weight S= Stated weight So, a bass of "five pounds" would be 5-(5 x .25), or 3.75 pounds. Disclaimer: This post was made in good fun and is not designed to imply that anyone is lying or that any fisherman would ever embellish the size of fish caught. Void where prohibited. Your mileage may vary. Do not remove this tag under penalty of law. Haha! Ok now I feel better ! =)
Ctrl_Alt_Dlt
Maybe, i just need more patience and need to spend more time on the lake.
jalberg
Spent ALL DAY on the water Saturday, caught 2 bass, ouch! Cold front?Went back out Sunday and loaded the boat ALL DAY! Finally a good day.
Nick Kuhn
I managed an 18.5" Saturday while muskie fishing (on an 11" jerkbait). Maybe they just wanted a big easy meal. The pike were going crazy last night though. Bass were a little slower but still pretty good action.
Cecil
Saturday was good for me. Caught about 20 smallies, all but 6 of them over 18" and biggest was 20.5"
serpent
I agree with jalberg. Sunday was the best day so far this season. I got 5 over 20" and 1 21 1/2". wooooot.
catchin'whopper
Seems like bass in the metro are all over the place. How are the bass positioning themselves on Minnetonka?
Deitz Dittrich
well, I will be the first to admit, my season has not gone well.. I am not good post spawn to begin with.. TurnUpTheFishing
Yesterday was just second full day targeting bass since opener but its been rough so far. Caught dinks shallow then tried some transition, 6-7', weed rocks areas and caught dinks. Moved out to the tip of the point 10-12' and rocky, didnt expect them to be there yet but caught...dinks. Figured Id try a midlake rock pile that I wasnt going to fish but had nothing to lose and caught...dinks. Ended in the pads caught one dink on a frog, got frustrated and left. around 25 fish and nothing over 14". If it wasnt for mille lacs opening weekend this would be a pretty lackluster season so far. EBass
Ha - you still did better than me. Went bass fishing and caught 2 small bass and about 15 pike which were mostly small. Working the deeper weeds. It's been pretty sub-par for me this season, but I'm also chasing catfish lately which has been hit n miss. Oh well, it's good to get out still. Craigums
First couple outings I got skunked, but things are picking up. Fished a club tourney on sunday and did well. Most of my fish were caught transitioning to deeper water but the tourny was actually won on a deep weededge.
varmithtr
Got the first 5 in the boat today (not by me though). 5 lbs 2 oz. to be exact and right at 20 inches. Also caught a 4.6, a 4.52, and a 4.5. Bigger fish were still a little sluggish. Topped off a five fish limit with a 3.75. By far best outing so far for quality fish. Hopefully its a sign of things to come. I ask this with truely no judgement, but does that mean all these are kept?I have no problem people taking and eating a limit of fish. I don't eat bass, and I guess I just assumed that it would be like walleye, where the best eating fish are on the smaller end of the scale. Are the bigger ones good eating? Irish
Yes! I hope schools of fish start showing up on weedlines soon!
BTL
I had alot of fun for the two weeks following opener. Lots of largemouth up to 5lb 5oz, and smallies up to 4lb 5oz. Too many northerns to count, and some massive bluegills. Found fish in all stages of the spawn and caught some on just about everything in the box. It was a blast. The best fishing by far was the two days after that big cold front when it dropped from the 90s to the 60s. Wish I was still there. Phantasy_Fishing
Season has been great so far. Largemouth bass fishing has been good. Caught my PB largemouth this year on a topwater. I also caught some nice smallies while it lasted. At the moment, white bass are really biting.

ted4887
My season just really got underway this week. Finally had enough decent weather where I had no choice but to get started. Didn't catch anything too big, except for a severe sunburn. Got lots of fish, but have been on two new lakes so far. I'll probably get to my past years honey holes this week weather permitting. EBass
Finally got out and chased some bass around. Got 16 of those buggers anywhere from right next to shore to the deep weededge. Tube, to jigs, to crankbaits, but mostly tubes. At this lake there were a lot of cookie cutter 15-16"ers and that's what I caught and a small pike. Good times!
