Marine Battery

It's not exactly deep-cycle marine, but my dad swears by the cheapest Wally World batteries for a car starter. They actually have a good warranty, and haven't failed in either of their cars, mine, or my sister's.

But, like I said, it's a different application, and results tend to vary.

Wally World sells Everstart Deep-cycle Marine batts....(or did)but beware, I went through three of them in 4 years....know I know why my Buddies called them "Neverstart". You get what you pay for, and a marine battery isn't anyplace to scrimp. If possible, spend a little more and get something like an Interstate Marine....they're great, IMO.

I agree completely. I'd avoid Walmart, they are not very "strong" batteries IMO. I have Interstates in my boat now and after 3 years I can't tell any difference from when they were brand new.

After replacing 5 never starts in 6 months in my old boat nothing goes in anything now unless it says Interstate. Having said that my current boat came with Everstarts, cranking battery was only a year old when it died, replaced with an Interstate and know someday the 2 trolling batteries will suddenly die with little to no warning.

Did Fleet Farm start selling Interstate batteries?? If so that would be great!! Very easy place

to get them and have them supported.

I had very same topic earlier this year. I used to work at Wallys so went there first. All their non auto batteries only carried 1 year warranty and deep cycle started @ 65. not worth it. so after many suggestions it was either interstate @ ga nder or optima @ cab elas, I chose the 100 vs 150 plus. also when buying them, had several ppl say u cant go wrong and will be very satisfied with selection, so that pretty much sold me on interstate. At wallys, 70% of batteries come back b4 warranty expired, but if u dont have original reciept u r SOL.

I have taken back an everstart to wally world the last 3 springs, all of them replaced under warranty. Took the boat out the other day, and it is shot again! This would be 4 for 4, non of them lasting more than a year. I am not taking it back, what a waste of time everstart batteries are! COMPLETE JUNK!

Cheapest for me for the money is Interstate. Each of my starting batt's have lasted 5 years, and my deep cycles see 4-5 seasons of use. When you say cheapest, you need to look at the per year cost, not just the initial price. My last Interstate 27 series deep cycle was $90, so its about $18-22.50/year for me. My starting batt was $70 last year, so that is about $14/year for a 5 year life. Pretty cheap insurance and I feel good having them in the boat.

Where can you get an Interstate? The batteries that I am replacing are Interstate, and I agree, both Trolling motor batteries have lasted the last 4 summers, this would be their 5th, and they both are shot. My cranking battery is also an Interstate, and its still going strong. I have only replaced the one trolling motor battery with the Resolute, and plan to pick another up this week, but for future reference, knowing where to get an interstate would be nice. Also, do the batteries only charge up to 85%? The one I bought yesterday was at that, and has stayed there all night.

Xplorer is spot on when choosing a battery, it's not always price it is years per dollar. Interstate

does that for me.
